Have dined there a couple of times for dinner in the past few months. Both times were excellent. Had the best Scottish salmon I have ever eaten. Excellent service and wine list. A place you'll want to return to again and again.

This was a dinner in the context of a professional meeting. We had a reserved area, the service was excellent and the menu (pre-defined) was quite good.

Café Dupont is a nice place for dinner, though the prices are higher than one might expect to pay in Birmingham, Alabama, for comparable if not better food (see Highland Grill).....prices mentioned below. The food was very good to excellent. The pear salad was a tasty combination of flavors.....compliments to the chef. The red snapper ($36) was also very good,... More

This is a white table cloth make a reservation kind of place. Last night we celebrated a birthday with our adult sons; this is not a young kid kind of place. After reading the reviews we decided to try this downtown restaurant that offers valet parking. It was outstanding all around, service was impeccable, the food over the top good,... More

While traveling in Birmingham we stopped in for a glass of wine and some food before seeing a show in the city. As first time travelers to Birmingham, we didn't know what to expect. To our surprise, we were delighted with Cafe Dupont. The service was great! Very attentive but not looming over our table as we enjoyed conversation and... More

Came with my husband for a casual dinner. Had beef carpaccio as an appetizer - excellent meat, well balanced with the horseradish sauce. Hubby had a duck breast, and I had braised beef cheeks for entrees. Both were out of this world! The duck was a lighter serving out of 2. Beef cheeks on the other hand was a heavier... More

My family of 4 ate here recently for a celebratory dinner during the middle of the week. The restaurant is one of the few (possibly only) nice restaurants located in the heart of downtown B'ham. Valet parked our car. We had reservations and were promptly seated upon our arrival even though we were a few minutes late. The restaurant is... More

We stopped here for lunch. The menu was very eclectic and it was hard to find a regular meal. One glass of Riesling wine was $12. A small tray of artisan cheeses was $18. Total cost for the 2 of us was $88. The food was good and the service very good. All wait staff were super polite.

Cafe Dupont is our go-to restaurant for a very special evening. It's a small white tablecloth place with excellent food. It's expensive. The cheese board is always good. Entrees use local sources--sometimes a little weird for cautious eaters--but always tasty and well prepared. Fine dining for sure.
