A colleague who lives in Birmingham recommended El Barrio to us. Wow, what a treat. The guacamole was fresh, salsa wonderful (could have been a bit more spicy). Interesting menu full of unique and tasty offerings.

And it will be a long wait. The first time I tried to go, I couldn't wait, but I made it back, and it was so good. Delicious! The food is so fresh and creative. I can't wait to go back.

We tried this place for brunch a couple of weeks ago. We had iced coffee which was tasty with cinnamon and nutmeg accents and more than likely a ton of calories. Sometimes it is fun to indulge and it was a nice, different treat. The food was tasty. We started with guacamole and it was delicious. The Cuban madam, the... More

Never been here before and went due to the good reviews on TA. It did not disappoint. The food is great, our server Juan was a pro. Will definitely go back

Great service, cool vibe. A broad range of patrons from business folks to hipsters, and everyone's loving it. The lamb tamales are unbelievable!

We went there based on other reviewer comments. We were not disappointed. I had the Grilled Chorizo Meatloaf and it was wonderful. We ordered guacamole and salsa and they were both fresh and very good. We arrived at 5:00 pm when they opened on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. By 5:30 they had a line. It is worth... This was my second trip here and it was just as good as the first time. I started off with the spicy margarita. If you've ever had a "spicy" margarita at restaurants, more times than not the heat is not there. This one delivered a kick, a spicy note to compliment the tequila and lime. Their regular margaritas are very... More

Meatloaf is truly amazing, and the most unique recipe as they use chorizo. The guacamole is also excellent, perhaps the best in Birmingham. Margaritas are okay; they are more traditional Mexican-style, meaning not sweet, but the bartender was very obliging in adding some extra Cointreau for us. This is a crowded place depending on what's going on downtown on a... More

Our food was delicious! We arrived shortly before 5 pm. We were served promptly by a very nice young man who was well prepared to provide excellent service. We all loved our meals and we were out shortly after 6 pm to head to our concert.

Our first visit to ElBarrio but definitely not the last!!! We went to the Bham Home & Garden Show and was hungry afterward. Friends had recommended ElBarrio and this was our first opportunity to visit. My husband order the shrimp quesadilla, I order the pork carnitas. Both were excellent. The shrimp were exceptional!!! We also had a margarita and a... More
