As you know, there are various regional recipes of shashlik/kebab in the world. Old cities in Mashriq (Levant), Turkey, Persia, Central Asia including Northwest China, have their specialty. Indian kebab, Sate in Malaysia, Yakitori in Japan etc. are national food in each country. And Skewers...at Dunhuang Night Market, marinade with special source, were spicy, juicy, and rich ! Tofu skewers, Fungi skewers, Potato skewers were also tasty. My best skewers ever !More

The moment tourists arrive, the touting starts and everyone will try to sell their food to you! Just pick one and sit down. The atmosphere is great for chilling out and having an ice cold beer with grilled mutton with lots of chilli powder!

Large areas filled with restaurants, food stations, shops and more. There are several areas where you can sit outside while your food is being prepared. It's impossible to tell which one is decent and which one not so we decided to sit at a place...that had a very happy and energetic hostess with a picture menu. Nobody really speaks any English but we had a good time, food was tasty and cheap. On the main commercial street there were a few very nice antique shops which are definitely worth a look. If you crave good coffee the Memory Box cafe is a very good option. It is on a street parallel to commercial street. About half way commercial street the is a square from there it's the second street parallel to commercial street.More

so many different resturants or little stands with flavors like donkey noodle, dumplins, turkey grills, hot pot, even coffe house. even you walk through the narrow streets, it's like you shower in the flavor.
