Simon Cheng helped us a lot: He recommended a more scenic route than the one we'd have taken originally - which was great. He helped us get reduced student tickets for the park as well as reduced bus tickets for going back to Shanghai. Also, the food at his restaurant was delicious - especially recommendable: banana pancakes as dessert. Of... More

Mr Cheng is a local tour operator who speaks very good English, his wife is a very decent cook - so you can plan your local trips while enjoying good and inexpensive food + ice cold beer :)

I have a number of complaints about this individual, enumerated below. Prior to our ascent of Huangshan, Mr Cheng recommended that my travel mates and I visit a scenic village after the hike. When we decided not to visit the village he proposed, and visited another instead, he began his eery behaviour. Mr Cheng was kind to store our luggage... More

I chose to go here as I wanted a menu in English and was happy I had done so. Run by a husband and wife team who speak reasonable Englisg the food is good and everything is freshly prepared, nothing chopped before hand so the wait may be a little longer than normal but well worth it. Mr Cheng also... More

A big advantage of the restaurant is it's English menu. I ate there twice and the food was fine. However, Mr. Chen himself is another story. He is out to take advantage of uninformed tourists. He tried to get me to change my travel plans, probably thinking he could help me and get some money from that. He told me... More

My and my girlfriend stumbled on Mr Cheng's completely by accident by staying at the Fashion Hotel across the road (also recommended). I am a seasoned traveler in China, speak some Chinese, and am good at planning trips. Even then, Huangshan is a daunting trip. There's so many routes to take, so many hotels to choose from on the mountain,... More

Mr Cheng tries to trick tourists into his restaurant with advices on Huangshan. As we were one of the ones he tricked in: Neither advice nor the food and service is anything worth. Mr Cheng is a very unpleasant man. Talking to him without following his tips made him angry and he started a heavy argument with us.

Nice person and nice food (fresh and cheap) with an English menu. Mr Cheng can come to take you to your hotel and bring you to his restaurant. His wife is cooking, his daughter and mother are all in. Feel in their house, simple and nice atmosphere. Only tree tables. Mr Cheng would give you all the information you need... More

This place is on the high road, not in the centre of the village, but it is just a 10 minute walk from the river area. It is about halfway between the bus station and the entrance to the mountain. There is an English menu, and the prices are OK. I had Chicken with Chillies, which was edible. Beer was... More
