It has a nice selection of beers, in the heart of Rio's old downtown. The food is good, but don't expected legit german food because of the plates got a carioca's interpretation, that is good. The price is fair, but not cheap. I like and recommend this place if you are near by.

It has been there, on the Largo da Lapa for three generations, serving good German staples - sausages with potato salad; kassler - smoked pork chops; eisbein - pork knuckle,; schnitzel - breaded file mignon. In addition, they feature Angus T-bone steaks, baby beef. Simple taverna atmosphere with wooden tables and chairs, walls lined with photographs of old Rio it... More

We had a great lunch. Fast service. Ordered baby beef angus, really nice, and salmon. The beer was great too.

it's been open for many years, but it's not the best bar in lapa in any terms (if you want to get fancy stuff for gringos, go to Rio Scenarium. If you want to know Lapa, go to the back street, Joaquim Murtinho. If you want underground Lapa, try Beco do Rato). Sorry, this place is rubish,

This place has a nice beer selection and it's our spot for drinking a cold one right before heading up or right after! The food is also good and the service is great!

Food isnt typically german, but good quality nonetheless. Staff were very friendly. There's a very relaxed atmosphere, they could do with cleaning the toilets more especially as they're shared downstairs! Would return for the garlic chicken - delicious!

Just on the corner near famous classical music hall Sala Cecilia Meireles where I was playing as a pianist, I had the chance to have lunch almost every day during 10 days there! Such great food. Beef splendid, salads amazing. Beware the portions are enormous!! But the atmosphere, service are so casual, simple and friendly. Most of all a big... More

recently had late lunch here while visiting friends in Rio. Was introduced to Flavio the proprietor. Ordered a German style meal which I have to say was most excellently prepared and presented, Sauerkraut was delicious with the roasted pig knuckle. We also had a couple of German import beers, which are a bit on the expensive side compared to Brasilian... More

Enjoyed a late lunch with my twins and husband in air conditioned comfort on a hot and humid day. Son had pasta; vegan daughter had a salad; husband and I shared a bacalao with potatoes dish with lots of side dishes to share. Very fast service with good food at nice prices.
