We ate here on arguably the busiest restaurant night of the year. Was able to get a reservation 2 days prior to the evening. Service was quite poor as we were apparently forgotten about by the server. We finally got the managers attn for a bottle of wine which he brought and served. Appetizers came and we finished and then... More

A friend and I came here today for lunch and as always I enjoyed the experience very much. Richard, the owner, did his usual marvelous job of cooking and providing unique menu items and specials. I had an excellent salmon. My friend had a chestnut soup that was terrific. The Lemonciello dessert was very good as was the opening salad;... More

The bread was excellent, it was all down hill from there. The food didn't look good, mediocre at best and tiny portions. We had to order pasta on the side or we would all have left hungry too. As we were visiting, I just couldn't imagine why anyone local would eat there. Great Thai place right across the street too!

The service and food here are dependable and excellent. The food is very well prepared. The scaloppini dishes are my favorite. Key Lime pie dessert was very good. This restaurant is a longtime fixture in Arlington. You can't go wrong here! The service and food here are dependable and excellent. The food is very well prepared. The scaloppini dishes are... This restaurant was recommended by the hotel we were staying at. So glad that we came for dinner. Great wine selection reasonably priced. Our party of four ordered mussels and calamari, just delicious. The bread on the table was nice and fresh and crusty. All four of our meals were outstanding, especially the veal saltimbocca and pollo Portofino. We finished... More

you enter through the back and up a small staircase...odd....place has very dated decor, probably from the 70s/80s....had appetizer canneloni (you can get any pasta as an app, which is pretty cool) but canneloni meat was pretty mushy and alfredo sauce was thick and bland....i had a veal cutlet, small portion.... wife had tortellini which were pretty good she liked... This was a bit of a surprise. The restaurant was recommended by the hotel concierge at the Renaissance, but was more than a bit of a disappointment. We came early and were seated right away. I ordered a cabaret --- they provided an Argentinian cab. It was a bit too oaky for me with an aftertaste. The figs and prosciutto... More

Thank you for your prompt review of the Portofino. I am sorry to hear about your fish entree the night that you came in for dinner. I love our fresh fish plate, usually served with jumbo shrimp and mussels with a white wine garlic butter sauce. We do a great job with this, by broiling and then poaching the fish,... More

This is an interesting place. You enter through the back door, but once inside it is quite nice. The staff is fabulous. They are friendly, helpful and entertaining. The crab soup was extraordinary. Sadly some of the entrees were a little lack luster. The Alfredo sauce was delicious, but the Marsala lacked flavor. The seven layer chocolate cake was out... More

We were looking for a restaurant that served pasta near our hotel in Crystal City, before the Marine Corp Marathon. Our expectations were low, but we were pleasantly surprise when we sat down at Portofino's. This family restaurant was a lucky find. Not only was the food authentic and delicious, the customer service was outstanding. Even with a large crowd,... More

Nice ambiance and above average Northern Italian. Large selection and some creative dishes. Service was slow in part and fast in part. Took 3 requests for water and the bill was wrong. Still recommend if in the neighborhood.
