Unfortunately, after only relatively few months in business The Republic of Sauca has closed and the property is now for lease. Their internationally focused, frequently fusion influenced cuisine will be missed - at least in sit down restaurant form. It appears that their modest flee...More

We love this place! The food is fab, the owner is fun, and the servers are charming. What more could you want!? Oh wait - how about pleasing the varied palates of your friends. Last time I was there, we started with house made tortilla...More

We love Sauca. We went the first time because of a Groupon deal and have been back several times. Easy to park, very friendly service, and super delicious food.

The range of dinner entrees has increased - in fact their entire menu has; now it includes breakfast. And they've added mixed drinks to it as well. Clearly the establishment is well along in turning the corner from great food truck food in an indoor...More

The food is absolutely challenging to eat and the price difficult to digest. The fish sandwich was strange looking, the fish looked like a white puree swimming in green soup, not appetizing at all. My husband choose the bah minh which was a bad interpretation...More

Description
This is a real restaurant by the same proprietors of the fleet of "Saucamobiles," one of the most popular of the new generation of food trucks serving the discerning palates of white collar as well as hardhat workers in the Washington, DC area. In the significantly renovated restaurant space most recently occupied by the Golden Chicken (Peruvian style rotisserie cooking) [originally a Roy Rogers chain hamburger restaurant that was in turn succeeded by a diner before the Golden Chicken), the same selective and perfectly prepared international cuisine is served sans the truck in an attractive, modern spotless decor. Although, like its fleet of food trucks, the menu is limited to a discrete complement of dishes, sides and nonalcoholic beverages, the food is fabulous, service is well above average, and the prices speak for themselves ($8 for a entree; $11 for an entree plus one small side and a beverage). As an accomplished foodee I can't think of another venue in the Washington, DC area where one can get a scrumptious meal with dessert in a delightful restaurant for $15 plus tax a person. While I've long encouraged others to partake of the wonderful food available through the Sauca trucks (including vegetarian), you just have to dine at the Republic of Sauca restaurant in Arlington, VA inspired by the Sauca food trucks. Drop dead delicious!
