LOVE the snickerdoodle and choc chip cookies and the unique sorbet flavor combinations. The custard is also very tasty but would go back for the cookies any day of the week.

Stopped in after dinner to very crowded parlor. Custards are made on the spot with a small selection of great flavors and tons of toppings. Much better that standard ice cream joint.

We recently moved to the local area and stopped in this evening based on the fantastic comments we’ve heard from neighbors, friends, and reviews. Simply put, we were extremely disappointed. The texture of the custard was good, but flavors didn’t really stand out. There were...three custard flavors and a handful of gelato flavors. We tried chocolate and malt and they were fair but far from outstanding. More overriding was the attitude of our server. My wife asked for a small cup with two flavors (as advertised on their board). The server mistook the order for two smalls. Another employee at the register tried to correct her, as did my wife. The server seemed further confused until finally sorting the mix-up out. Frankly, the mix up didn’t bother us. However, once complete with the order, the server proceeded to slam the cup on the counter and walked off, offering a half hearted “Enjoy” that betrayed her annoyance of the mix up. To say that my wife and I were taken aback is an understatement. We cannot recall the last time a server was so outwardly rude; particularly over something so trivial as her misunderstanding an order. With plenty of wonderful ice cream shops in Arlington and Alexandria, you can bet that Dairy Godmother will not be one that we patronize again.More

The hype is all true. Yes, everyone SHOULD eat here. No, I am not exaggerating. This was the perfect day to experience TDG.Chocolate Malt is my favorite...it was on the menu! What is now my new favorite, Pear Riesling, was also there as a sorbet....It was nothing short of revelatory. The combination of the two was magical. We indulged in a sandwich, as well...butterscotch custard with oatmeal cookie pieces and chocolate shards...heavens! The tulle was also delicious. AND, we took a quart home! This place knows how to do custard right. The texture, flavor and overall quality are exceptional. I want it again and again.More

My girlfriend and I went to try this place out, we pass by it all the time. There have flavors and "treats of the day" which is a nice touch. I would recommend this to a friend or family member. I had the apple crisp...with a scoop of ice cream on top. It was of high quality, the crisp was still warm and the ice cream rich and smooth. The contrast was great, and I would gladly go again.More

I've had good sorbet in the pase, but this was the best I've ever had. Selection availability wonderful. Staff allowed me to try them. I had both Lemon Lavender and BlackBerry Merlot. SO DELICIOUS

I absolutely love this place! Not only is it a small business (wohoo) but they have high quality sweet treats at what I think is an affordable price. I usually get the custard (pic below of thin mint) or the frozen custard sandwiches. However they...have sorbet too (pic of blackberry merlot and lemon lavender below) and even pup pops for our 4 legged friends!More

Frozen custard treats abound at this Del Ray treasure. Each day's frozen custard offerings include vanilla, chocolate and a special flavor of the day. They also offer several sorbets that are flavorful and light on the palate. For four-footed customers they offer frozen doggie treats....The venue great for families and is very child friendly.More

It. was. amazing. !! The frozen custard was fresh, tasty, and just delicious. I tried some of the other ice cream flavors too - they were fine although I guess I just don't like some of the more 'inventive' stuff. But the plain frozen custard...was definitely the reason that I will come back! The interior is nice and homey with Wisconsin-related posters etc. on the walls. Good place for families. I like the cute benches outside where you can sit and people watch too.More
