Oak Steakhouse is a great addition to the Alexandria restaurant scene. The food is fresh and beautifully prepared. The steaks are incredible, with a wide array of add-ons and sauces. The sides are fantastic - we loved the carrots and baked potato. Great wine list....The management and wait staff are AMAZING.More

Truthfully I would have given it a 3.5...not quite average but not 'very good' either and I hope this feed-back helps The service is top notch: special call outs to Zach for the wine suggestions and Todd for the hospitality. Both are excellent parts of...the service team. It is the food that brings down the score. First, the parker house rolls. Please tell the kitchen that these rolls do not need the 'everything bagel seasoning' they add to the top. The rolls need a sprinkle of salt, that's it for a true Parker House roll. They load this seasoning on top and of course as any cook would know, the seasoning burns in the oven. If they kept it simple it would not ruin the rolls. There is a limited selection of appetizers, they used to have mushrooms on the menu that were excellent. We got the burrata. The cheese was good and so was the sauce, but they should re-think the plain white toast they served it with. The burger, I was so excited about. How on earth can a burger with cheese, bacon and onions have no flavor??? Well, it was bland and forgettable. And while I always love a brioche bun, the top bun was 2 tall inches thick...much more bread than meat. The filet was good, a nice cooked steak. Bravo! The mashed potatoes were not seasoned well and had a dense texture; I will not recommend ordering those. The Brussel sprouts were delightful and crispy; highly reccommend . Overall, for a steak house in this area, with so many other choices; I think this is a bit of a disappointment. I think if they amped the excitement of some new menu options, and corrected some of the seasoning issues, it would be worth another try.More

This place was outstanding! Can’t share pictures because it was so good. Drinks delicious, steak tender and chop salad had perfect balance of blue cheese. I’ll be back and will share photos next time.

Went out to Oak Steakhouse. Great atmosphere. Our server August was extremely helpful. he gave us great insight on the menu items. They made a great old fashion for me, using Wofford reserve. The rolls, pork belly, bone marrow ,and fried potatoes are divine. But...my favorite part of the meal was the dry aged Kansas steak. Cooked medium rare to perfection. I recommend any one looking for a great steak experience head over to Oak Steakhouse in Alexandria Va.More

I was here prior to COVID19 and they had not quite gotten their rhythm down. This time was one of the best experiences I have had in foodie heavy Alexandria. The service was wonderful. Paris was delightful, prompt and extremely well-informed. The timing was right...this time and the meal was fabulous. We ordered the Tomahawk Steak for 3 people and it was cooked to perfection. They brought the steak knife you would expect, but it was completely unnecessary. The steak was fork tender and so flavorful it seemed almost wrong to be able to enjoy it. The sides we ordered were pureed potatoes and sauted spinach. Both were wonderful. We had the special House Manhattan and I am never going to make my own any other way. The Management Team is on the floor and are aware of everything that is happening. That is what puts them a step above. As good as the food and drinks were, they all pale in comparison to Paris and the 5 star service she provided. She was the best part of a lots of good parts. I cannot more highly recommend this restaurant. It is everything it should be.More

My first time… Fiancé’s 5th time. Every seat filled. Great testament to the food and service. The decor is great with throwback historical pictures of old town from decades ago. Walking distance from our house which is a plus If you are fortunate to have...Lea as your server, you’ll have an outstanding experience. Talented, friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu. General manager checking on tables which is always appreciated. Great guy. Zac is a wonderful ambassador for Oak steak House. As a vegetarian who eats fish, I knew they would have a great offering for me. Handcrafted with care cocktails… The talent shows through. Thoughtful as well with the quality ingredients. High Wedt campfire… Yum The chef text normal steakhouse offerings and raise the bar. The tempura asparagus, stinging nettle Agnola day, Italian Barada with English peas (My favorite!) And yes there were only two of us. My carb cravings kicked in. Instead of a boring baked potatoes for baked and fried potato with white cheddar cheese sauce, bacon (On the side for me which was great so the fiancé could eat it), Scallions and pickled peppers… This was delicious. Halibut is a finicky fish and if overcooked, it is awful. This was done perfectly and if anyone dares to complain about the prices, know that wholesale prices to restaurants have risen very high. If you were shopping at a grocery store or you already know so please not complaining! We look forward to returning again soon.More

This was our first time out in 14 months, and Oak didn’t disappoint. Our waiter Lee was amazing, and we felt comfortable and taken care of the entire night. Food was delicious, drinks were amazing, and we will definitely be heading back.

The food was absolutely amazing! My husband and I both had steak, both were delicious. The brussels sprouts were out of this world! The service was great, our waitress was kind, although a bit slow. We felt that the atmosphere of the restaurant was a...bit casual. When I have spent $150 on dinner for two in the past (two steaks, one side, and one beer), it felt like more of an intimate experience, which is what we were looking for. The atmosphere made us feel like we were in a chain seak house rather than a fine dining establishment. Although the food was delicious, it isn't a place that we will return to in the future. I would recommend trying it if you are looking for a good steak, but not looking for a romantic, quiet atmosphere!More

I will give a fair and honest review: First the atmosphere, rich wood surroundings, dim lights and comfortable seating. Reservations are a must if you want a table. You can sit outside but it was very cold. The service, while crazy friendly and welcoming, we...struggled to find our server at times and we ordered two orders of parker house rolls and only were brought one order (never did get the second order) The kitchen service was slow, took over 20 min to get first appetizer. The best part of the service was Zach, he is the manager and will go our of his way to assist you. While the raw oysters were good the Rockefeller were terrible. In fact they arrived cold, no flavor...really skip this dish. The parker house rolls, a bit dense and please stop adding the 'everything bagel' seasoning to the top. It is not a homerun. These rolls would be so much better with the traditional glaze of butter on top. 22 oz aged cowboy ribeye was a homerun and it should be at a $95 price tag. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned and arrived hot. bravo! The wines, they have a large selection but be warned, many of the bottles on the menu are not available as their inventory is a bit light. we did not try desert and in fact, we were never offered it. The server was in a rush with other tables, came by after the meal and asked 'are you ready for the check?'. Maybe if tempted we would have tried something but the steak was very filling. We will returnMore

Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate my birthday. We wanted some place with delicious food, outdoor seating, and tables spaced very far apart. We got all that and more at Oak Steakhouse on St. Asaph St. in Alexandria. When we arrived, there...was a slight mix-up caused by the reservation system Open Table. There were no outside tables available and we were offered an indoor seat. However, we declined out of personal health concerns. The Manager, Zach, could see we were distressed and he bent over backwards to make things work. In short order he was able to seat us outside and insisted he would do anything he could to make our evening enjoyable. He served us complimentary sparkling wine and immediately sent Lee, our waiter, over to attend to our needs. Lee was perfect. He was friendly, made good suggestions, took our orders, and brought our food and drink out quickly. He was never obtrusive but always attentive and congenial. Later in the evening Zack came to check on us and we had a delightful conversation. He also explained all the safety protocols that he is taking to assure that his staff is healthy and customers are protected. He is going above and beyond what other establishments are doing. The food was superb and I was served a scrumptious birthday dessert on the house. All in all, it was a marvelous evening and closer to anything normal we have experienced since the pandemic began. We will be back. Highly recommended.More
