I've heard glowing reviews of the Salt Lick even in northern CA. I thought that I would try it before I left Austin. To be fair, I realize that the original restaurant may be better than the one at the airport. But it would have to be much, much better for me to be willing to throw down that much... More

I couldn't make it out to Driftwood (20 mi south) on my recent trip to ATX, so I decided to hit Salt Lick's location at AUS (Austin Airport). Its located in the middle of the airport. I ordered 4 original brisket sandwiches ($8.95 a la carte). The original is served on a burger bun w/ a mustard based sauce. You... More

Spent the week in Austin sampling some of the best meat and BBQ, so we stopped for one last taste before jumping on the plane. Now in fairness, airport locations almost always disappoint when compared to their original counterparts so I went into this with lower expectations. Unfortunately they were met. The brisket was overcooked and lacking flavor, although the... More

Had a quick bite at the airport and was expecting something mediocre. I was pleasantly surprised! It was delish. Had the simple double chopped brisket and it really was excellent. My friends had a couple of sides and they were just ok. Focus on the meat and enjoy some excellent Q.

Thought this would be the perfect little "last taste" of Texas BBQ on our way out of town. Boy was I wrong. Hubby had pulled port, which was at least edible. My sandwich which was $14!!! was a HUGE bun with 4 count them FOUR slices of the toughest driest brisket I have ever encountered in my life! They did... More

Heard great things about Saltlick in driftwood, is this the same company? Ordered the sliced brisket , it was dry, it was tough, it was flavorless , didn't have the characteristic Red Ring around the edges that good barbecue should have, didn't have any smoky flavor , didn't have any spiced crust , basically was like a piece of shoe... Breezed through Austin for work and had to try BBQ. This did not disappoint. Had smoked brisket, turkey and pulled pork. To have this quality food at airport was impressive. Skip the beans and potato salad. Nothing fancy there. Thanks, Salt Lick!

I love the Salt Lick and every time I visit Austin, I try to find time to go. But sometimes, it is just too busy so I love that I can get BBQ at the airport! Brisket is DELISH! Worth going to the airport a little bit early so you have time to wait in line :)

Good brisket made up for some not-so-good brisket I'd gotten in another restaurant earlier in the week. Who knew airport food would be better. Potato salad side was mediocre, but overall it was a good quick brisket fix before leaving Central Texas. Menu was a bit pricey for quick food--even by airport standards. I would probably eat there again... if... More

Was getting some BBQ to take home. They only served chopped brisket before 10am, so didn't get the sliced brisket and ribs. Only got chopped brisket and sausages. The flavors are good but I still like Rudys bit better.
