This is one of my favorite places to eat in Austin. It is always full and the reason is that is has some of the best Tex-Mex in Texas. Oh yes, there margaritas make that hot enchilada go down even better !!

We had a party of 7 on a Friday evening in July, a very busy time. Parking was a struggle but accomplished after depositing the party at the door. The wait for this busy time was about 30 minutes and it was crowded. Drinks were ordered from the bar and the margaritas were superb. The estimated 45 minute wait was... More

A colleague took me here before heading to the airport and let's say it was the best decision ever. I recommend just one mango margarita because as small as that glass is, it's probably two or three shots in there! You'll feel greaaaaat after just one! The queso at Chuy's is better but who doesn't love queso and fresh, homemade... More

Tex-Mex so good!! This place is huge, but the wait is still long because everyone knows how good the food is! Amazing queso, burritos, and fajitas so tender and so tasty. Some of the best I've ever had. Drinks are great too.

Matt's El Rancho has been successful in Austin for generations for a reason - they provide very good Tex-Mex-Mex in a fun, clean atmosphere with great service. It is usually crowded on weekends, and they do not take reservations, but the staff is very accommodating and the bar is a great place to wait on a table. I would skip... More

We arrived at about 4 on a Friday afternoon. The service was fast and courteous. We ordered adult beverages and an appetizer. The main meal came fast and was served with large portions. We sat on the patio which was clean and pleasant. The food was fresh and tasty.

Like many types of Texas foods, I'm picky. Very picky. So Matt's was fine, but that's it. The Bob Armstrong dip (basically queso with guac and meat in it) was yummy, and the chips were nice and thin and crispy, but the entrees and margs were just so-so. My enchiladas were stuffed with spinach, but they didn't have that much... More

Great service, beautiful patio, good food. Not the best Mexican I've ever eaten but very tasty. Make sure you sit on the patio to thoroughly enjoy your meal. Their famous dip is good, also enjoyed their chicken fajita quesadillas, and an absolutely delicious frozen margarita, not too sweet or tart. Definitely worth a visit

It doesn't get much better than a Longhorn victory and a family celebration at Matt's, the True KING of Mexican Food. Our family have loyal to this tradition since the mid sixties, the food & its quality has remained true to what it made Matt's El Rancho Famous & reigning King of Mexican food. The brisket tacos, enchiladas, chili relleno... More
