We live Matt's and try to visit every time we are in Austin. The big bob's queso is a must and the house margaritas are very good. It's an old time Austin favorite!

So glad we chose Matt's! The restaurant had ample parking, and yes, we had to park in the BACK lot on a Thursday night but were seated within a few minutes. Chips were lightly season and served with a nice hot sauce. The shrimp fajitas...More
Awesome review Kim! We hope you visit again soon.
I've been going to El Rancho since I was a baby. Always enjoyed the place. Bob Armstrong dip, no. 1 dinner, tacos al carbon, are some of my favorites. Not as good a deal, financially speaking, as it used to be. However food has always...More
Went as suggested by our daughter for Margarita Monday. We had ours frozen and they were delicious. Had Bob Armstrong dip, brisket flautas, chicken enchiladas and chicken fajitas. Our server was Ed and he was great. Enjoyed everything. Would definitely return if we ever visit...More
Sounds like y'all had a fantastic time. See you back soon!
We made it into one of our favorite Austin establishments, #Mat'sElRancho. Waxing nostalgic with our waiter, I asked if any of the Martinez family remained active in the restaurant. He said, "I'm Mat's grandson, Roy." Roy Reyna beamed with pride and charm and provided us...More
Thank you Art! Glad you got to spend some time with Matt's grandson Roy. He is Awesome! Matt's daughter Gloria is here every Sunday night and would love to hear your memories!!!
Three of us were on an overnight stay waiting for a flight after hurricane Harvey We saw this place and it had a full parking lot at 3 PM, that's honestly why we ended up here. We certainly were not disappointed! We started with the...More
Thanks Linda! Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you made it home and look forward to seeing you again.
This place was suggested by our friends. They said it is a long standing Austin original. Overall, the food comes out quickly and it's pretty good. Thick chips with your salsa (not thin ones). The place is pretty big so it's definitely got room for...More
Glad you enjoyed dinner with your friends! See you back soon!
Came here to meet friends during a recent visit. They said it was a local favorite. It was packed and very noisy. Service was spotty and our service got some of our order incorrect. Margaritas were bland even though we tried the house (terrible) and...More
Hi Susan! We are glad you came out but disappointed you did not have a better visit. Did you know that el Rancho was recently picked as being one of the top ten places in Texas for Margaritas? I can promise you if you order...More
My family and I have heard a lot about Matt's El Rancho from family members living in Austin. We swung by this past weekend while on a family visit to Austin. Upon approaching Matt's, we were all impressed by the beauty of the Spanish styled...More
Hi Joe, thanks for stopping in! Our Margarita's are made from 100% fresh lime juice squeezed in house daily. Our Margaritas are not as sweet as some you find out there but that is your preference we can do that by adding more simple syrup...More
The bar staff were functional, all business, not friendly at all. Food was good, service was mediocre at best. Maybe they were ALL having a bad day. The bartender made it clear she did not have time for us.
