I lived in Austin in the 80's and Matt's was one of many Tex-Mex staples. In returns to the city over the years, I have avoided Matt's because the reports weren't great and it was a place "just for tourists". Bringing my new in-laws from Connecticut to Austin, I decided to give Matt's another try and show them a classic... More

Our friends heard about this place (they live in Austin) so we thought we'd meet there and try it together when we were traveling in the area. We came early enough there was no wait (mid week too). We all found it "eh". The Award winning dip was so-so - nothing special. Our other food was ok, but really nothing... More

Hi Dean, It's great to hear that you appreciate the Mahi-Mahi we use in our Tacos. We think it's a really healthy alternative to the Tilapia that most restaurants use. We really appreciate you being out guest for 50 years, WOW! Paul More

This is an Old Austin favorite that we still love, but they've gone down hill a little. They have fairly good parking. Their brunch is pretty good. Today we didn't get our chips & salsa until well after our entrees arrived. The waiter seemed really knowledgeable (gave vegetarian advice about the beans) but wasn't too eager to please - never... Hi Wendy, I'm really disappointed that we did not exceed your expectations. I'll check into the Cheese Enchiladas. We usually have two managers in the front of the house, one walking the dining room and one and the host stand. On your next visit please ask for (or flag down) a manager if anything is not perfect. We are always... More

This restaurant was recommended to us for being one of the best in the area and it was. You should make reservations because the waiting is long to be seated. Very large area and parking, still was full - standing room only. There was a wide choice of meals, all of which was succulent and well presented. The drinks were... More

The place is very nice, the food is great, a little expensive but is not a big deal. The food came out really quick.

This is great Tex-Mex food restaurant with other menu offerings. I have eaten here several time over the last FIFTY years. We eat here often when we come to Austin. My wife felt like Tex-Mex and ordered the combination plate. It was as good as usual. I saw they had frog legs on the menu. I have a hard time... More

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Austin. It is always full and the reason is that is has some of the best Tex-Mex in Texas. Oh yes, there margaritas make that hot enchilada go down even better !!

We had a party of 7 on a Friday evening in July, a very busy time. Parking was a struggle but accomplished after depositing the party at the door. The wait for this busy time was about 30 minutes and it was crowded. Drinks were ordered from the bar and the margaritas were superb. The estimated 45 minute wait was... More

A colleague took me here before heading to the airport and let's say it was the best decision ever. I recommend just one mango margarita because as small as that glass is, it's probably two or three shots in there! You'll feel greaaaaat after just one! The queso at Chuy's is better but who doesn't love queso and fresh, homemade... More
