They give a lot of food in one sitting. I really liked the greens that came with my fried chicken, and the sandwich was huge!

Have a lovely and extensive selection of wine. The food speciality is fried chicken. The collards were my first try and tasted quite nice. The ambience is a bit rustic. People are nice.

I am medically required to eat gluten free (celiac) and had a good experience last weekend. I chose from the a la carte menu, since I wanted chicken but not one of their large portion entrees. My chicken was made in a separate pan to...More

We had our 16 month old with us and the staff was very accommodating. Food was ok. Nothing phenomenal, but nothing terrible. Quail wings were fantastic!

Arrived on foot from nearby hotel for late dinner after day of traveling by train and plane. Diagnosed with celiac and hadn't had fried chicken--except at home--in ages. Sat at the bar with a nice drink and watched through large service window as my and...More

The best fried chicken I've had in a long time. They recommend chicken and champagne and they were right! It was wonderful! 4 of us ate here for a Sunday lunch and we stayed for 4 bottles. I was quite surprised and delighted.

We went for dinner on our last night. We sat out side. The cheeseboard was great. The champagne fried chicken salad was delish as was the egg sandwich. I got the shrimp and grits which was ok. It had a poached egg on it, which...More

Love this restaurant. I was with a group of 10 or 12 people. The service was great. The fried chicken was the ultimate--best I've had. The chef came to our table to make sure everyone was happy. A very nice gesture and one you don't...More

The gluten free fish was delicious! They were so happy to work with my food allergies. I felt welcomed. And that is not true in many places when you need special accommodations. Loved it!

How do you rent event space for a wedding reception? I read on other forums that there is a minimal food and drink fee, but they didn't explain how it works and how much that fee is. Does anyone know?

Go to Max's Wine Dive Austin Book Event Venue. TripAdvisor would not permit including the link. The event space is called the Underground.

There's nothing wrong with sipping remarkable wine to a bit of rock n' roll in the Live Music Capital of the World is there? Nah, we didn't think so either. Welcome to MAX's Wine Dive Austin. Perched on the corner of 2nd Street and San Jacinto Blvd., a stone's throw from The Austin Convention Center and a stroll from The Texas State Capital Building, MAX's Wine Dive is the stop for your dining experience in the heart of downtown Austin. Embracing the music that pumps Austin's veins, MAX's Wine Dive goes above and beyond what you ever thought a wine bar or restaurant was supposed to be. With a vast array of gourmet comfort food with a twist, locally sourced farm to table taste bud tacklers from Executive Chef Erica Beneke (yeah, you may know her as the winner of Chopped), and a wine list that includes fan favorite labels, unique and interesting selections and some privately sourced options, we mean to leave our mark on the restaurant and wine bar scene. MAX's Wine Dive Austin is one of the largest Wine Dives due to the tremendous event space downstairs known as "The Underground." Stretching more than 6,000 square feet beneath the restaurant and our two neighboring establishments, "The Underground" is comprised of three separate rooms, all varying in size and décor. "The Lounge" is home to our high-end wine cellar and lockers, and is the perfect space for private diners, business meetings or wine socials. "The Vintage" offers a bit more room for larger affairs such as anniversary and birthday parties or corporate work gatherings. Lastly, our "Grand Reserve", which is our largest space, can accommodate anything from weddings to rehearsal dinners, to large-scale celebrations of any sort! Whether you're celebrating in "The Underground" or hanging out upstairs and marveling over Chef Erica's delectable dishes, we are here to ensure you have a memorable experience. So if you're catching some of Austin's live music up on 6th Street, looking for some light bites and bubbles after a walk around Lady Bird Lake or coming in from seeing our famous Austin Bats on the Congress Street Bridge, be sure to hit up our comfortable and cool atmosphere. We will be the restaurant with aromas of Grandma's cooking wafting outside of the door, and Johnny Cash slinging Folsom Prison banter over our speakers.
