The food was good, but limited menu. Wine was a bit pricy and it was very hard to hear with the noise level. Waiter Troy was great and helpful!

First time in Austin so we stopped in at Max’s. Staff were amazing, and the food was great. Table had several apps that tasted amazing. Mains were so good! Chicken was massive, tomato soup and grilled cheese was excellent. Put this one on your list.

Our company reserved one of the downstairs rooms. Cocktail hour followed by buffet dinner. Plenty of room, great set up, great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

For a more relaxed, quiet evening in Austin, check out Max’s. The wine list was great, and Chelsea was kind enough to give us small tastes so we could choose a wine we liked. Great service!

* Great place downtown * fun atmosphere * The gluten free fried chicken was outstanding; flavorful, moist, and a little zippy! (Celiac safe, no side affects for me) * the gf fried chicken (jalapeno &buttermilk favored)came with mashed potatoes, and collard greens. The portion was...More

Great choice to comfort cuisine! Fried chicken and shrimp and grits are excellent. The chicken sliders were a little disappointing...wished I had gotten the bison sliders instead.

Description
There's nothing wrong with sipping remarkable wine to a bit of rock n' roll in the Live Music Capital of the World is there? Nah, we didn't think so either. Welcome to MAX's Wine Dive Austin. Perched on the corner of 2nd Street and San Jacinto Blvd., a stone's throw from The Austin Convention Center and a stroll from The Texas State Capital Building, MAX's Wine Dive is the stop for your dining experience in the heart of downtown Austin. Embracing the music that pumps Austin's veins, MAX's Wine Dive goes above and beyond what you ever thought a wine bar or restaurant was supposed to be. With a vast array of gourmet comfort food with a twist, locally sourced farm to table taste bud tacklers from Executive Chef Erica Beneke (yeah, you may know her as the winner of Chopped), and a wine list that includes fan favorite labels, unique and interesting selections and some privately sourced options, we mean to leave our mark on the restaurant and wine bar scene. MAX's Wine Dive Austin is one of the largest Wine Dives due to the tremendous event space downstairs known as "The Underground." Stretching more than 6,000 square feet beneath the restaurant and our two neighboring establishments, "The Underground" is comprised of three separate rooms, all varying in size and décor. "The Lounge" is home to our high-end wine cellar and lockers, and is the perfect space for private diners, business meetings or wine socials. "The Vintage" offers a bit more room for larger affairs such as anniversary and birthday parties or corporate work gatherings. Lastly, our "Grand Reserve", which is our largest space, can accommodate anything from weddings to rehearsal dinners, to large-scale celebrations of any sort! Whether you're celebrating in "The Underground" or hanging out upstairs and marveling over Chef Erica's delectable dishes, we are here to ensure you have a memorable experience. So if you're catching some of Austin's live music up on 6th Street, looking for some light bites and bubbles after a walk around Lady Bird Lake or coming in from seeing our famous Austin Bats on the Congress Street Bridge, be sure to hit up our comfortable and cool atmosphere. We will be the restaurant with aromas of Grandma's cooking wafting outside of the door, and Johnny Cash slinging Folsom Prison banter over our speakers.
