Joe Allen's is probably the best BBQ in Abilene. Best to go in for lunch. I don't like how the main cook chops the beef out there on the line so dang loud.

I had the chicken fried steak, coleslaw, and red potatoes. It was average tasting but good. They serve cornbread and white bread with dinner and it was nothing special. It was good portions but no one raved about it.

This is a tough one. The sliced brisket is some of the best I've had. Melts in your mouth...fork tender. But the BBQ sauce didn't do it for me. Maybe it's because I'm used to the sweeter sauces in Oklahoma, but this ruined the experience. I ate the brisket with no sauce. Also, I ordered a sandwich plate, but they... More

This is some of the best bbq we've had in TX. The staff is always friendly and the food never disappoints.

Simple exterior with huge parking lot. Interior has huge heads of animals stuffed and mounted on the walls. Menu is straightforward. Pick your meat, choose the thickness of the cut and how you want it done. I chose the thickest cut of ribeye (2 inches) which is equivocal to 32 ounces. It came out cooked right at the thickest parts... More

Brisket chopped or sliced very nice. Ribs are also very good. If they have it. The Jalapeno Corn is a must and the Jalapeno and cheese sausage is very good.

We came here for lunch as newbies in Abilene. Saw good reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp, so we gave it a shot. Feels like a low-key, friendly, family-owned place that's been here for a while. We saw three rooms and chose the middle room where there was a good sized Saturday lunch crowd. We had the sliced brisket sandwich, chopped... More

Off the Interstate but easy to find in downtown Abilene is a BBQ restaurant that has been around for years. It is a sit down place with an over-abundance of local kitsch but also lots of local photos of days gone by. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and you could tell this was a favorite place for the... More

Stopped in for lunch based on reviews on TA. Really good choice as we had some of the best brisket BBQ I have eaten...and I have eaten bbq from Memphis to Lubbock. Tasty, moist and flavorful...good beans, potato salad, and a variety of cornbread. Abby, our waitperson was a hoot...friendly and efficient. Since we were first-timers, she brought us a... More

Locals suggested this restaurant and they were right on how good it was. Fresh buttered bread, chicken was amazing and the creamed corn dish left you wanting more. Exterior may keep you from stopping but do not be fooled the food is great!
