Please note the Federal Hotel outlet is still open. It is the Starhill outlet that has closed. Good value lunch sets. Dinner is a little more expensive. Fresh sushi, large cuts of fish. Lots of Japanese walk in to either eat-in or take-away.

Great, wide variety of many different Japanese dishes. The fish is delicious, and it's worth trying some of the items that are not available outside the region. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and make great suggestions for food. It was a very pleasant experience, and something of a surprise.

We (me and my girlfriend) found this in a "top sushi restaurants in KL"-guide Aas we were really craving sushi. The restaurant seemed promising as it is in a really posh mall. However, the restaurant was almost empty - just one more couple when we arrived. The menu didn't describe the dishes that good in English, so we went for... More

Was walking down Bukit Bintang street trying to figure out what to have for dinner when I stumbled across this Japanese restaurant. It forms part of the Federal Hotel with a corner frontage to the main road. Took a look at the menu and saw quite a few Japanese folks enjoying the food in the restaurant. Hmm, that is usually... This was probably the best restaurant we ate at in KL. The meal and service were exemplary. My wife had a seafood salad that was absolutely delicious. We would definitely return to this restaurant.

We enjoyed our lunch here, the food and service was good. Reasonable price. Foreigner staff but can understand English. Nice Japanese food. I would be happy to visit again. Strongly recommend

I love teppanyaki-style food, so we were hooked when we saw the sign outside Kaihomaru in the cavernous Starhill Gallery shopping complex. On entering, we were seated at a normal table rather than beside the teppan... no chef in sight. We were given a teppanyaki menu, and told that the food would be cooked in the kitchen rather than in... More

Fresh and good sashimi air flown from Japan. Ask for their daily/weekly specials with unique offering. They specialise on seafood. Expensive but worth eating.

After visited many Japanese restaurants in town, I found that Kaihomaru is the best place for sushi & sashimi. High price but meets its quality. Ingredients are so fresh, air delivered from Japan. Very satisfied.
