We had read a number of 'reviews' in various of the Guide Books ,all suggesting that the Old China Cafe was an authentic cafe/restaurant from the turn of the century(19th)....and so it proved in appearance...unique ,unusual, authentic. What was not expected was the standard of cuisine, or indeed the service. The former was 'poor' although admittedly cheap; and the latter... More

Excellent food and nice atmosphere, like the fact it retains its traditional decor. Would definitely recommend the Kapitan chicken curry.

Outstanding nonya food at excellent prices in a quaint old shop house by Chinatown. They have stainless steel in the kitchen. Simple. Old fashioned decor with historic pictures. Popular with back packers but it should appeal to anyone.

We enjoyed a good dinner in this relaxed and atmospheric restaurant. It is popular but not all the customers by any means were tourists when we visited. We had spring rolls, Assam prawns and coconut rice, followed by a dish of fried noodles. Just right.

This cafe was a great find. The old building is very interesting and the food was delicious. We had the beef rendang, sweet and sour pork and nyonya fried rice to share. The location is great as it's just off Jalan Petaling. Another point is that they have a western toilet and toilet paper....always a bonus in Asia! I would... More

Well worth a visit, we had a fantastic noodle and rice lunch. Really interesting building and lovely staff. Very busy and full of locals and tourists alike, well deserving of its great reputation.

It's a very old school charming Chinese restaurant with Malaysian touches (eg the drinks they serve). The Nyonya fried rice was very good with some spicyness but the chicken it was served with was dry and cold. Maybe a touch too much oil in the rice but certainly had "breath of the wok". The laksa is mediocre. What really stood... More

We ate here twice during our time in Kuala Lumpur. We tried multiple dishes but the sweet and sour pork was my favorite! If you're brave- you can try the durian dessert (but I don't recommend it). This is a smaller venue but it transports you back in time.

Decorated with plenty of collectibles and antiques. Very nice to give the old feeling of the old days. However, the food, Nyonya style, is really disappointing. Ordered Me Siam, Nasi Lemak with fired chicken, skin fried taufu, Pork Pongteh, and nasi Goreng. One word for the food - very very salty. Price wise - Paid MYR95 for the total bill.... More
