We had a reservation for 14 persons at 12 nn. Since I was the first to arrive, I informed the person in front that we had a reservation. He told me to line up outside!!! It was good that Chef Kuni showed up and brought...us to the 2nd floor private room. Chef suggested that we order the Omakase platter since this is the Chef's choice for the day. Chef said that we didn't need to order 1 platter per person and suggested platter for 3 persons for our table of 4 ladies. We asked if we could order 2 platters instead and added scallops, kimchi, radish, 2 bowls of garlic rice and house salad. This combination of meat, seafood and sidings was perfect. Chef explained that Matsusaka beef was the best beef and only available in Japan compared to Kobe which can be exported. The Omakase platter consisted of top Blade, short Rib, Bottom Sirloin Flap, Sirloin steak and Chuck Flap. The chuck steak had its own sauce which was vinegar base to balance the oiliness of the meat. He suggested we try the steaks with the real Japanese wasabi which elevated the steak to a different level. As expected, the steaks were all super tender and juicy. The kimchi, radish and bean sprouts were crunchy and so good; not spicy like the Korean banchans. These were really excellent and healthy side dishes. The men ordered 1 platter and 1 garlic rice bowl each. The young adults ordered a platter for 3 persons for a table for 4, 3 garlic rice and the roasted garlic. For dessert, we were given huge strawberries which were so sweet and a sorbet to cleanse our palate. The bill amounted to USD70 per person. People often said that the resto is overhyped and expensive. But at USD 70 p.p. I think that the price was just right for the quality of meat and the excellent service. Kudos to Chef Kuni but a huge let down for the front man who told me to fall in line even though we had a reservation. Will I eat here again when I return to Osaka? Yes, if they will honor my reservation and not let me fall in line. Otherwise, I would eat at Yugentei Jojoen at the New Otani Hotel which had a lunch menu, drop dead views of Osaka Castle, excellent meats and waitresses who were forever smiling and ready to assist just with a glance. Service was really top notch.More
We ordered two sets of premium package as our dinner. The quality of Matsusaka beef was wonderful and mouth-melting. The texture was soft and tender. Every dish was tasty indeed. Our server and chef were both very friendly, and let us know how to taste...each dish in the best possible way! The restaurant is one of the best restaurants with superb customer services, not only with servers greeting us from the entrance to the exit of the doorway, but also painted a heartfelt plate showing the origin of our country! This was one of our best dining experience we came across in the globe. Well done and look forward to coming back soon!More
Read online that this restaurant is very popular so we made reservation online before going. Service is prompt and good. English menu available. As the beef set needs minimum two pax to order, we ordered the ala carte matsusakaygu beef (chateaubriand steak), black pork belly,...prawns and scallops and salad. The pork and beef are both tasty. Recommend a visit to try the meat here.More
We had been to the Yokocho branch several years before. So for this trip, We booked online for any branch available for 1 Jan. Kuni, one of the directors, whatsapp just a few days later and the booking was confirmed for a different time from...what we had booked. I was so impressed that they made the effort to contact us. On New Year’s day we turned up on time. A Korean man without a reservation has just been told to wait in a very strict: “You just wait there, wait there” in English and then in Japanese. The Korean man took a seat and the staff stood there, seemingly doing nothing. We showed our reservation to the same staff (he was the only one at the door) and we were rudely told to wait in line behind the man without the reservation. “Can you wait there behind that man, he was in front of you .” There is actually nowhere to wait. The room is really small, maybe 3 pax shoulder to shoulder. We waited outside the restaurant. The rudeness of the staff spoiled the mood. It was New Year’s Day and we had been so excited to come back to Japan for a great beef meal. He just spoiled the mood. He comes from an ASEAN country (non Japanese), speaks English very well. The other staff, 2 Japanese and 2 South Asians, were really nice and polite. But the initial experience determined the mood for the rest of the night. So even if you are prepared to spend ¥40,000 for a meal, be prepared for the rude attitude:(More
A wonderfully delicious meal, with Chef Yoshio Nakai - thank you for your amazing food and hospitality. We ordered the selection of meat working our way up to the very top grade, every mouthful was glorious and melted in our mouths. What a find!
Chose the premium tasting platter and we were not disappointed! We also got the garlic fried rice which was delicious, assorted sides and assorted kim chi. This was enough for 2 people and the bill was around $200AU. It is a must if you like...Wagyu beef, this is better.More
Wonderful experience, delectable food and delightful service - that’s how we will always remember this gem in Dotombori/Namba area of Osaka. We first called and reserved a table for three, but then couldn’t find this place (perhaps google maps had too much Sake?). Thus, we...called them back - and to our delight, their chef Yoshi walked over to our location (7 min away!) and picked us up in person. What followed was one of our best dining experiences with fresh meat and amazing flavors. In fact, they were also flexible in catering to the vegetarian preference for one of us! Truly reflective of Japanese hospitality and service :)More
the location is abit hard to find, booking in advance is recommended. The taste of best beef in Osaka is ridiculously delicious, esp when you are in cold, tired and hungry. The recommended garlic rice was excellent too. However, the price at the end of...dinner is painful, 😂More
Expensively delicious but you’re pretty sure that you’re eating the right Wagyu. Worth the money that you’ll be paying for the steak. Must dine when you’re in Osaka
First, let me start off by saying that the service and food was impeccable!! Highly recommend it!!!!!
Everything was perfect. We had a reservation so we got a table immediately upon arrival. It was a bit pricey but worth it. The beef was tasty, soft and succulent. Service was top-notch as the chef and waiters were very accommodating and nice. They readily...and patiently answered all our questions. We would definitely go back the next time we're in Japan :)More
2nd visit was a success! We didn’t know at first that reservation was needed. But on our second time we were able to get booking. They have so many branches close to each other. They where kind enough to bring is to the right branch...since we went to the wrong one. So confusing! But all worth the wait. We were so lucky to sit in a big room for 4. Their set menu is already good to share. They suggest which to order that would be best for your group. Worth it!More
The different steaks we tried were all good. It was worth the wait for our table. We keep coming back to this place every time we visit Osaka. I suggest you make reservations months ahead.
Having overdosed on sushi the past 3 days we decided on Matsuzakaya beef on our last night in Japan. Now you can eat this famous beef in many other places..in a nice restaurant like this or a hole in the wall..mostly the quality is not...too far apart but price might be. Matsuzakaya has positioned itself as THE place (they have a few branches) to go for this lovely meat in Japan and they have managed to attract many foreign customers. The entire 1st floor staff is english speaking... Japanese guest are seated downstairs. If you are looking to dine amongst the locals this isn't the place. But we were there for the beef. They have designed several set courses to try various cuts..from lean to marbled and the price goes up accordingly. We took the marbled menu..about Yen 7800 per pax excluding drinks. We were not disappointed. You grill the meat to your liking, moving up the marble curve. Save the best for last. It really melts in your mouth. Some reviewers commented the marbled beef served is overrated. Honestly we couldn't say if it was the best but it was pretty good. The waiters were friendly, helpful and attentive..all were foreign students studying Japanese and it was fun chatting to them (in English). Though on the expensive side (you can probably pay less elsewhere if you look hard enough) but it was a fun evening nonetheless. If you are going we suggest dinner followed by a nice walk through Dotonburi at night which is another fun experience in Osaka.More
