We were looking for some good ramen in Kyoto and found this place. Their specialty is burnt soy sauce ramen, which we tried. They were actually very good, but in the end the burnt flavour was probably too dominant. In any case, they ate worth...More

Located near the Nishiki Market, Kyoto Gogyo serves a burnt miso ramen where the miso is charred giving it a unique taste. We came on a Thursday afternoon and there was no line up. They were just about closing for lunch but we seated and...More

This is a great place for ramen and offers plenty of seating. The music is really good and adds to the chilled out ambience to the place. The bathroom is clean and is actually quite nice in there. We was seated straight away and there's...More

The place is quite nicely set up and seems popular among locals for Saturday night dinner. The food is traditional Japanese ramen and tempuras, done well but not mind blowing, and the prices are rather high compared to other less fancy joints. We enjoyed the...More

We loved our experience here -- from the service to the food, everything was perfect. We had to wait for around 20 minutes to be seated and the waiter was nice enough to seat us next to the "bar" where we could see all the...More

Being a careful traveller I always turn to TripAdvisor as likeminded friends here have continuously shared invaluable information. I have to admit this time I was unwise focusing only on the positive reviews and did not read the negative ones on this ramen shop. Never...More

Burnt miso ramen is just too good to pass by! Located just besides the Nishiki Market Shopping Street, it's open for lunch, and be prepared for a line because this place is popular both by the locals and tourists!

It was approximately 8pm, and there were still big groups of people waiting. You write your name down on the front, and it took me 40mins to wait. If you have google map, there's nothing to be worried about looking at this place. It took...More

Well worth the 40 minute wait. I had the burnt soy ramen. It's not an everyday ramen, more of a special treat. Perfect soft boiled egg, fresh noodles, strong broth. I enjoyed the flavour but could not drink all the broth due to how strong...More

I write the review to reflect that the manager of this restaurant would read and improve their management and also warn travelers that this is a big tourist bailed and a cheating restaurant. Below are the reasons why you will be f__cked up by this...More

Shinkyogoku Shopping District
Those who delight in shopping and cuisine will find
themselves at home in Shinkyogoku. Lauded and visited
by locals for its Nishiki Market, where baskets of
fragrant spices, dried fish, and just-fried foods are
piled high along the snaking streets of its enclosed
outdoor shopping spaces, Shinkyogoku is not only a hub
for fresh fare, but also for fast fashion fixes.

They will take a reservation with conditions: They require you to order at least one beverage and one Otoshi (starter; 400 JPY), one another food order other than just Ramen per person. A Ramen order only is not accepted.
