Definitely a worthwhile and thrilling experience! Staff are very nice and speak English. The ramen is very good , but I wouldn’t say the dumplings and rice were that good. They record it for you and take photos of you after. Lovely people! :)

Absolutely recommend this place if you visit Kyoto. I have the world’s pickiest eaters, and they said it was the best meal in all of Japan. And the people there were fun and English friendly. Totally worth it!

A visit in this restaurant is surely a lot of fun! The show is awesome and it's a great addition to your trip in Japan. A ramen itself is also very tasty and the fried rice which comes as a side dish is wonderful. We...More

Once in a lifetime experience and unforgettable! Saw the outrageous video and knew I had to be there. Guests are required to be covered from the neck down and have your hands behind your back while sitting at the counter as you wait for the...More

The experience is cool in itself. Staff is friendly and the ramen are OK. This is more for a show than for the taste as I have had better ones and cheaper than this in Kyoto

Do not expect the typical traditional Japanese place, despite its appearance, a bit shaggy, the food and attention are the real show. The ramen, although it is an important delicious piece of this puzzle, is not the most relevant of this place. They sit you...More

It was a such experience. When I went in, I didn’t know about this place, just seen a line at the door the night before waiting to get in. So today I went early and tried it. The owner is very cool, the staff speak...More

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered
shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street
bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to
peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home
goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center
is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of

I don't remember a parking lot. It was about a 10 minute walk from the hotel we stayed at.

They can. They make a vegetarian broth (I had this because I can’t eat seafood, and their regular broth is a mix of pork and fish stock), and you can choose not to have chashu (sliced pork) added to it.

Menbakaichidai has been a staple in the community for 30 years - burning through the competition with its famous "Fire Ramen." I innocently assumed that the ramen earned its name for being spicy, as are most "fire" dishes in the culinary world. It wasn't until I was inches away from a four-foot flame, that I finally realized this restaurant had taken things to the next level. From yahoo travel post
