Definitely worth a visit in Kyoto! The experience itself was so fun and entertaining - I don’t get how anyone could rate this place any less than 5 stars. The owner of the restaurant was extremely kind and hospitable - this meal was a memory...More

They really made an effort to brief guests in their own languages using printed boards about what to do and what not to do. They have stands for guests cellphones so you don’t have to think about how to document your fire ramen experience. The...More

You just have to do this. It is the best Ramen pyrotechnics anywhere. The food is great as well and they make sure you have a smartphone video record. It is a little disturbing when the staff retire to a safe distance before the owner...More

This is so much fun, you have to do this if you visit Kyoto, the chef is so cool and the fire experience is like nothing I’ve had before. Food is great and you leave smiling with great memories and photos as well.

If you like ramen and don’t mind waiting for a while this is a great experience. Good ramen, really nice with the subtle smokiness from the fire. The owner was really nice. Talked to every customer. Gave good advise on things to see and what...More

I love ramen so decided to go to Menbakaichidai for my 49th birthday. Had a great time. The ramen, fried rice and dumplings were quite good. They really put on a show though. My wife and I had a wonderful time. I highly recommend for...More

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered
shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street
bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to
peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home
goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center
is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of

I don't remember a parking lot. It was about a 10 minute walk from the hotel we stayed at.

They can. They make a vegetarian broth (I had this because I can’t eat seafood, and their regular broth is a mix of pork and fish stock), and you can choose not to have chashu (sliced pork) added to it.

Description
Menbakaichidai has been a staple in the community for 30 years - burning through the competition with its famous "Fire Ramen." I innocently assumed that the ramen earned its name for being spicy, as are most "fire" dishes in the culinary world. It wasn't until I was inches away from a four-foot flame, that I finally realized this restaurant had taken things to the next level. From yahoo travel post
