Stopped in after a walk around many temples and Gion. Tried the Kyoto local IPA and really enjoyed it. Like hoppy ales from back in UK. Staff were friendly and quick service. Down side is they still let people smoke inside in a lot of these places. With out the smoke would be excellent.

The staff really make this pub great! There is also a wide assortment of bottle and draft beer as well as whiskey.

This is a great little place. Everyone was friendly and the place had a great "pub" atmosphere. Everything was pretty reasonably priced would 100% recommend for a casual night out in Kyoto.

After a week in Japan, I just wanted a burger and a beer. However, this hamburger was absolutely the worst I have ever eaten. It tasted like bad meatloaf on a terrible bun with an awful sauce. The consistency of the meet was like they had covered it in water before they gave it to me. Absolutely terrible.combine that with... More

Lovely pub, great food, nice atmosphere in the evening and a good laugh with other customers. Definitely pop in here for a quick one to wind down during the evening or to separate the afternoon in between shopping for souvenirs etc

Wandering street life in Kyoto on a Saturday night I happened upon this friendly pub. Bartenders speak some English, friendly as expected, and met sweet and kind Japanese college kids that were happy to chat about baseball and travels. Lots of Aussies here too. All around good pit stop for a drink or two, a chat, and some bar grub.... More

Staying in Gion

Neighbourhood Profile
Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko" in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners, Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the streets on their way to and from work, where they fan dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion lights up at night, when the ancient-looking streets glow with lanterns along the river, where weeping willows catch the starlight and the air is warmed with conversation. Groups pass through to populate the restaurants and bars along the riverfront, but Gion still manages to be a mostly quiet district, due in large part to limited automotive traffic through many of its streets. Gion is a wonderful place to indulge in Kyoto's local and customary cuisines, and is best enjoyed after dark.
