Read the reviews on here and decided to visit. My hotel did not want to help us book ahead, so I went to their website and sent a message indicating an interest in booking for our group of four. Was pleasantly surprised by their quick response, and they offered a private room as they were fully booked at the bar.... More

Kamikura provides very fresh locally sourced ingredients in every dishes. Each dish was delicately decorated and the taste was amazing! It was the first time for me to try Kyoto beef and I am addicted to it! It is not too oily - just perfect! The chefs and staffs were very friendly and the staff who took care of use... More

we came here because of all the great reviews and wow, there is nothing like it! They only use fresh local ingredients and the menu changes constantly - this restaurant also serves puffer fish (you need special license in Japan to serve this, because of the poison) - not sure how I found space in my stomach to finish all... Amazing meal prepared by Chef Yoshitake and his staff. All staff were really friendly and helpful. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, especially the fresh tuna, fugu (puffer fish) with roe soup, Kyoto beef and specialty Japanese curry rice.

I chose this restaurant as our special dinner during a 3-week trip in Japan. I had read about it in a blog and found good reviews here. This was a memorable experience and so worth the splurge. First, it feels you get into some kind of secret place given the location and limited number of places available. We were very... More

Small, intimate restaurant tucked away on a secluded walking path. Chose the more expensive of the two set menus and it was so worth it! Every element of each dish was deliberate and so delicious. Probably the priciest meal we've ever had, but we both thought it was well worth it. Chose seats right in front of the chef's cutting... More

We ate at 6 very highly rated Michelin starred restaurants in Kyoto and Tokyo on this trip. This was one of our favorites. Superb presentation, very fresh tasty ingredients, and an easy-going staff. Although no English menu, you order a set course and the chef presents each course as it's made in front of you. At least one of the... More

Booked a few weeks before, based on the fab reviews here on Tripadvisor. A wonderful evening! Food was sublime - some of the best we've ever had. The Kyoto beef was delicious and melt-in-the-mouth. Chief Chef, Yoshihiko Yano, is a master of his craft! Edward provided the translation and was an absolute darling! The hostess, whose name I forgot to... More

Small, beautiful place, tucked in a charming narrow street, just a couple of minutes walk from the Hatanaka Riokan. Chief Chef Yoshihiko Yano and his team create exquisite culinary art. It is a feast for all senses. Immaculate presentation, every dish is an original piece of art. English is fluently spoken. Arigatou gozaimasou, Chef Yoshihiko, "gochi-so-sama-deshita"!

I knew I wanted to splurge on a kaiseki dinner whilst visiting Kyoto and saw this restaurant recommended on a trusted blog. I'm so glad I chose Kamikura. Everyone was so unbelievably warm and welcoming and the chef that spoke English explained all the dishes in detail, even going so far as to show a picture of a specific fish... More
