My girlfriend and I stopped in here after walking all day and working up an appetite. We came across this place and immediately we're drawn to the outside atmosphere which had a quaint little seating area with lights, the sort of place you'd wanna sit for a dinner and beer while enjoying the weather. We were quite disappointed in the... More

Went there for dinner for a small meal. We both ordered Pho - 800 yen each. No drinks. Our bill came to 2460 yen. Apparently the prices listed don't include tax, and there is a 300 yen per person fee to sit. Neither of these were written anywhere or explained to us - it was simply added to the bill.... More

I thought that the food and atmosphere of the restaurant were both good. I went with my friends and we all enjoyed the experience.

Open on a Monday night. There was an English menu but the vegetarian set was not described on the English menu. The waitress went to a lot of trouble to explain it - her English was not strong. We also seemed to be forced to order a drink each - we ordered lychee juice which was different and nice. The... More

Had a set menu: sandwich, pho, dessert and coffee. The only good part about the sandwich was the bread. The pho, was the worst pho I have had, noodles were over-cooked it sticks to the teeth. The liquid part of the soup is so bland, the meat was not fresh. The dessert was not something you'd remember. Instant coffee, was... More

I appreciated the atmosphere of the place, and the food was quite good for a Vietnamese cuisine. The service was poor (the waitress wasn't helpful, but more annoyed) compared to the quality of serviced we have received in other places in Japan. Also, the waitress indicated that we must order at least one drink per person (before even choosing our... More

Good food, good service. Staff was helpful and could explain the dishes. Lots of choices for celiac diets. A few for vegetarians. Great spicy dishes! Pho bo and Peking duck ordered.

Really local kind of place- absolutely delicious food (they helped me figure out what to eat as a veggie) and a chilled out ambience. Great first night of our trip!

i was so looking forward to having some vietnamese food in japan and was i wrong about this one! the pho soup noodles were utterly disappointing--soggy noodles and the soup has this syrupy sweet taste that is so wrong. the pork ribs were served still raw in the middle and way too salty. the worst meal i had in japan.... I came here in late june this year, and it was the best. I mean from the food to the service, it was all excellent. I had the best pho and grilled chicken in my life. I came for a two week stay in japan and huong viet was heaven. Highly recommend it to the travelers

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
