This place serves good sushi. Good quality fish and affordable prices. Ambience is average and service is good.

Terribly rude personnel on the phone, or I should rather say racist. Although in our company we speak very fluent Japanese, with professional interpreters inhouse, they forced us to call a Japanese native to do a very simple reservation change. Will never work with them...More

Probably best sushi in Japan. Only disappointment was the price. 34k yen became 42k thanks to tax, service charge and and two bottles of water and cheapest glass of wine available.

Eating at Matsudya is a complete experience. We went with the 20 course menu. Each dish was perfectly constructed and delicious. We had sake to accompany, recommended by them. It's a 6 seater sushi bar. Pretty intimate. A good vibe and great choice of background...More

Hotel recommendation at short notice and wonderful experience. Opted for the sushi and sashimi with sake at 22,000 per person. Worth every yen! Great welcome and ambience by husband and wife team with their son working in the background. Simply sublime sushi and amazing flavour...More

As othrs have noted, the restaurant seats 6 but often there are fewer diners. In my case there were two others who left half way through my meal. The chef has excellent English and was eager to explain myriad spectacular of Edo style sushi. The...More

My wife and I ate here about a year ago during our stay in Kyoto. We managed to book spots on relatively short notice, a lucky break for a restaurant this special and this small. Simply put, this was far and away the best sushi...More

Don't think so. It's rice and I suppose rice has gluten. I am just a reviewer , not the owner.

I think they are only open for dinner, and you probably need your hotel concierge to make reservation for you. Some of the restaurants don't take walk ins.
