Had a six service set dinner. Every single dish was original, well presented and unbelievably tasty. Service was very attentive and even though the staff did not speak much English they do have an English menu. Prices are not cheap, but more than reasonable considering the quality. Very highly recommended!

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for more than three decades, so my review might be biased in a positive way. Mr. Matsui decided to renovate and rename old and very popular French restaurant Le Bellecour. Now it is La Part Dieu, named after the second train station in Lyon, meaning “the domain of God”. Onion potage... More

Price quality is ok compared to other options of this kind. We had a four course diner for two and a bottle of good white wine and we payed 15.000 yen in... More

Le Bellecour is a favorite of a Kyoto business partner, and it was easy to see why. One of those restaurants which is a reflection of the owner's passion for his craft. When French food is done well in Japan, it is done very well indeed, and this is a great example. The map on the restaurant website will guide... More

This restaurant is a real find. If you are looking for great French food with a Kyoto fusion twist this is the place. Mr Matsui the owner is superb host. Our party of five were treated like old friends and with each course the presentatiln was, as you would expect, perfect. Forget the presentation. The food was sublime. An unbelievable... More

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
