Lunch at Chihana was good, and the food here is interesting in that it uses fairly few luxury products and many dishes feature very odd flavour combinations. That being said, not a single dish stood out, and compared to other restaurants in Kyoto at this...More

The food was bland, badly prepared, showing no technique nor effort. It was the worst meal we had in Japan and the most expensive (£150 each). A glass of orange juice for dessert says it all.

Couldn't have agreed more with the previous reviewers. If you are expecting a 3 star Michelin experience you will be very disappointed. The food was very ordinary and also very much over priced. Definitely avoid.

I visited 5 Michelin starred chef in Kyoto, and this has to be the worst! Ironically speaking, the 3 Starred Michelin chefs are the lousy ones. We took the mid ranged menu, and found the ingredient to be somewhat lacking, and definitely not as luxurious...More

Enormous disappointment. The food was uninspired. Bathroom was FILTHY. Barely any cooking - like a pantry/deli dinner effort. Shameful. The best dish was the first one: 4 thin slices of basic poached chicken with 4 chunks of grapefruit. We were excited but it went downhill...More

Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko"

entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners,
Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with
gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the
