Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastic dinner and service, really catered to our gaijin needs and even dealt well with our fussy vegan. Our chef was great at trying to communicate with his translator and made us feel very welcome. Okinomiyaki was a highlight but the restaurant does lots of...other dishes including salads, deep frieds and teppenyaki style cooking.More

Friendly and typical place where to spend a dinner with friends and family. The chef is a great person and he gave us some "Japanese lessons". We really enjoy this place, strongly suggested if you live near the Kyoto station.

Really enjoyable place to have dinner. Japanese style teppanyaki serving Okonomiyaki Kyoto and Osaka style. The owner is very nice and there’s an English menu. And he uses a translator to tell you how to eat your okonomiyaki in your own language. I had a...very good time even by myself. Food is nice and pretty cheap.More

We were recommended by our hotel to go here for oponomiyaki. Did not disappoint. The couple running the restaurant cooked, served, and talked with the us. The food was cooked in front of us. As we waited for our Uber, the owners walked us out...the door and waited with us.More

This is a restaurant as I like to discover when travelling. It is located close to Anteroom hotel and it is a must in Kyoto. We had dinner 3 times and each time was a great moment. Chobo the owner and his wife are so...sweet and okonomiyaky is perfect. We met local people and travellers and we spent good time with them A great place !!More

Popped in here on a very rainy night - very friendly restaurant. Owner very happy to have foreign tourists and using his little translator. Always asks where you are from so he can tweek the translator to the required language. Menus in english and like...most small places the best seats are at the bar overlooking the cooking area. Food is good, not excellent but atmosphere is great and the beers certainly flowed easily chatting with neighbours. Reasonably priced and worth a visit if passing by.More

Found Chobo Chobo close to our hotel. Service and food great, food cooked on hot plate in front of you and tasted delicious. Never tried okonomeyaki before but tastes great. Reasonably priced and great little restaurant.

Delicious okonomiyaki! Wanted a local okonomiyaki restaurant not too far from our hotel. This one is perfect for foreign tourists. The chef is very inviting and shows you exactly how each one is made on the menu. Like other reviewers, he has a translation device...to help with any questions. The food is delicious and the menu is extensive. Full English menu has been translated. We sat right in front of the grill watching exactly how each meal was cooked. He told us what each one was , so it was easy to order!More

I had the okonomiyaki here, and the owner was great with us, giving us itinerary help and advised us to plan around the weather! He used a translator to talk with us and was generally a pleasure. Prices are very reasonable.

We were staying at The Lower East Nine Hostel and didn’t want to go too far from it for food and we found this place! Amazing food, very friendly staff who didn’t speak much English but had a handy translator device that made it very...easy to communicate. They cook the food right in front of you which is interactive and fun! We had the Okonomi-yaki which was filling and very tasty, well worth the ¥800.More
