This restaurant was very difficult to find, not having a sign in English. The lonely planet refers to it as Rassolnik but the sign is only in Cyrillic, It is located in the 130 Kvartal district and has a small orange sign. Once we did...find it though, it was utterly impressive. Brilliant food, live music, good beer and fantastic decor. Service was a bit slow but that may have been because there were not many people in the restaurant. Overall would highly recommend!More
Thank you for your pleasant feedback. We are just happy to receive so many compliments from You. We are always glad to see you again, and we hope to see you soon.
Was it the old time 80s favourites of Chicken Kiev, Roulade or Beef Stroganoff or the enthusiastic live singer that won us over? Maybe it was all of the above and more. We found Rassolnik initially hard to find, given the name of the restaurant...outside is spelt in the Russian alphabet and starts with a P, but we were soon pointed in the right direction and were greeted by friendly staff and decor that was befitting of this must do restaurant in Irkutsk. The service was great as what was delivered to our table. There was nothing left behind last night which is rare when dining with a 10, 12 and 14 year old. Rassolnik is well worth a visit and there are plenty of good options for drinks before and after.More
Thanks for the feedback. We are happy to be able to please you. Come again - our doors are always open for the dear guest
This restaurant was recommended to us by our guide, presumably because it does good local food. The ambience is very kitsch, and there is live music. Unfortunately on the night we were there the decibels from the singer were way too loud and we were...sitting too close. There was a wedding party there which was interesting. The menu, like many Russian restaurants, is vast, but the Rassnolik is worth trying.More
Thank you for your feedback. We will definitely pay attention to the volume and decibels during parties that happen in our restaurant. Glad you liked us. Be sure to visit us again if you come to Irkutsk again!
For our last night in Russian territory, we have chosen another restaurant that tries to bring back the USSR times. Very nice ambiance with live music and food was good.
We thank you for your feedback! We are glad that you visited our restaurant.
I was in Irkutsk with a group of friends for two days in September. We went to Rassolnik for dinner on our first night. This was my first experience of Russian food and I was not disappointed. We went down a flight of stairs to...enter the restaurant, to be greeted by friendly staff and a warm atmosphere. Loved the art on the walls. The food was great too. Being gluten free I had many chioces and I enjoyed Rassolnik soup, Goat Stew with Mushrooms and Halva ice cream. Delicious.More
Thank you for your compliments! We are very grateful that You appreciated so highly the kitchen and staff. We will be glad to see you again in the walls of the restaurant "Rassolnik".
Lovely atmosphere and service food was lovely. Had the rassolnik soup. Really tasty and definitely worth a visit.
Thanks for the feedback. We are glad that You were satisfied with your visit to Rassolnik. We are waiting for You to visit again.
Busy restaurant still buzzing and busy when we got there just before last orders mid-week. Definitely trades on it's soviet decor - but the food is also good as is the range of tea available. Unfortunately our first choice of dumplings wasn't available so we...went a little off-piste with mixed results, but overall it was all good. Service was excellent.More
Thank you for your feedback. We are always glad to see you in "Rassolnik" dear guest - we will be glad to see you in your next visit.
My husband & I read about this restaurant & wanted to experience the Soviet ambience. The place is decorated with memorabilia from Soviet times & black & white movies played on old style TV sets. The menu was easy to follow with photos as a...guide. We found the staff friendly & helpful especially with my gluten & dairy intolerance. After speaking with the chef our waiter guided me through the menu on what could be altered to suit. We started with herrings with potatoes & a garden salad & our main dishes were grilled pike & grilled omhul. Everything was tasty. We enjoyed our experience & would recommend this restaurant.More

We were a small international group with last-minute table reservation. Reservation was a good idea, as at the time of 8-9 p.m. the restaurant was full. We got English and Russian cards (plus point for sure) and were served with drinks quite quickly. The only...thing was, that 2 out of 3 drinks we wanted to order was not available, so we had to change our order. The food was ordered quite quickly, the waiter advised us in whatever we wanted to know. The only strange thing was that he explicitly did not advise us to take one particular fish dish - although it was available, it was somehow not fresh enough, according to him?! The soups were tasty and the portions more than enough. The food in general was OK, but not more than that. The "Kartoshka"-desert was absolutely tasteless. The service was at an average level (soup was spilled on the table, the waiter didn't always remeber who ordered what). The bill was quite high. If they would improve the food and the service, it would be a nice authentic place.More
Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. Thanks to You we grow and develop. We will be glad to see you again to really surprise you with delicious delicacies of Russian cuisine and impeccable service.
Well, we liked it there though endless flow of tourists plays a (negative) role. Quite unexpectedly it happened to be their corporate birthday so we were presented with some "valuable" memorabilia - small badges, blazing-orange ballpoint pens, "15 puzzles" games and stickers of the Soviet...past motives. Rather bizarre for elderly people but groovy toys for our minors. The food was nice - delicious and beautifully decorated but their service was a total any-old-how happy-go-lucky flop. Our charming and smiling waitress made a complete mess of it and first brought me soup then, immediately, main course and - in a couple of minutes - a starter. Practically in one shot. My friends got the same blow though in a more logical order. So the table was packed and we had it like sort of free-for-all. The girl didn't bother much and just wished us bon appétit. (Maybe she's right - why bother if everything'll mix in your stomach?) We loved their decor a là l'Union Soviétique. Old cameras, tablecloth and the staff's uniform looking as if from the seventies, Soviet movies playing non-stop. Stuffy was it also like in a Soviet restaurant though by and by it became much better. Summing up - unambiguously cool but definitely not chic (maybe hoards of galling Chinese tourists put some spokes in our wheels?).More
Sergey, thank you for your feedback. We are going to do everything to make You fully enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant "Rassolnik" and try the best delicacies of Russian cuisine. We apologize for the confusion and invite you to visit again.
