We booked a table in advance but it appeared that due to COVID schizophrenia and therefore no Finns in sight the place was practically empty. Well, we only gained. The building which is situated in a nice park is very nice and resembles a villa...somewhere in Swedish Saltsjöbaden or Waxholm, not far from Stockholm. It stands here since 1868 though the construction as such has been ruined and re-built from scratch several times. The latest version appeared in 2016 thanks to two local businessmen and designed by a St Petersburg architect. There's also a convenient parlkng lot nearby though it takes some effort to find it. The food there was just excellent. We took Olivier salad (known outside of this country as Russian) with tongue, borsch (Russian beetroots soup), solyanka (Russian thick, spicy and sour soup), pike patties and veal with asparagus plus apple juice, green tea and a couple of glasses of Crimean red wine. Yummy! Their service was flawless. We were met at the entrance, showed to a table by the window, quickly given a menu. Our waiter Galya swiftly took our order and starters arrived in about ten minutes. A special appreciation should be granted to her because our five-year old grandson was very hungry and she brought him his borsch practically immediately. Well done! The bill was RUR 4,400 (ca. USD 59) for us three which we deem was just. Will return for sure. Recommended! One of the best - if not the best - in town.More

After have tried a couple of other restaurants in the city, we stumbled over this nice and cosy restaurant. Very nice food to, a west European person, very attractive prices. We got a tenderloin steak and a cheesecake for dessert. The steak was grilled to...perfection as required and the dessert was the top of meal. The restaurant have a quite big selection of bottled western beers.More

Beautifully renovated old villa style cafe-restaurant. One of the most expensive in the town but worth stopping by. Exclusive service. Elegant but still uncomplicated.

We were 6 people having a late lunch at Espilä. As we already heard before, that the service is slow we especially asked the waiter, which portions we should order to get them in less than hour. The waiter recommended salads and pizzas. Four of...us ordered pizza, two of us salad and soup. The portions were brought to the table not at the same time. Actually two of us already ate their pizzas while two pizzas were still not brought to the table. When we asked about the waiting time we heard that there was only one oven in use. Even if it was so it takes only maybe 5 minutes to bake a pizza....We believe the work in the kitchen is not well organized as there were only a few customers and still we waited almost an hour for the food. The restaurant is very beautifully decorated and had an air conditioning, which was very pleasant when it was +30 degrees outside. The prices are higher than in Vyborg usually, bot not too expensive. The food was tasty and beautiful. We would go back, if they could do something with the slow kitchen.More

We had a bottle of Russian champagne and a jug of great old-fashined lemon lemonade in the terrace. Really polite service, and the next day we visited the place again for a cup of coffee. We'll have a dinner when we next time visit again.

- Not cheap - Very slow service, thought very few customer in this big restaurant, all plates came when ever (not at the same time), waiter needed to be called in if you wanted something. - Our waiter not able to speak English - Be...warned if you want to change your potato/rice into something else like mashed potato, they will charge you extra and not tell you about it. Later they will explain, "you need to pay, because you ate it all already!" Except not, just the served one. After we asked about our bill and all the extra side dishes we were supposed to pay and refused to, they offered to bring us all the not eaten side dishes. Just to clarify, we were not told about the extra charge. They admitted their mistake. After some discussion, all we got was "you need to pay!" Very, very poor management. No compensation nor apology. Only after demanding contact info for their boss, we were given a small 300 ruble compensation of our 13 900 ruble bill. The Russian way was to give absolutely no apology! Btw ask Tatjana, she is that boss according to the personnel.More

We had to make a reservation because it was a new year. It was easy, staff talk good English. This restaurant has a long history, you can read it at the internet sometimes. Now it looks very nice and comfortable. You should eat there, "so...the speak", all night long, take a appetizer, soups, main course, dessert, kafe and konjak and and and... We get a very good food there and staff was very friendly. Clean unisex-toilets, nice furniture where sit, big windows everywhere, taste a history and enjoy your meal. We recommend this place.More

The restaurant is very popular among Finnish people cause in old times when Vyborg used to be a finnish territory here was a restaurant. I tasted beef stroganoff with a mashed potato it was good. But I prefer another restaurant in center of Vyborg.
