Great traditional food

We found this place on a day of exploring the city and we were welcomed by a friendly hostess. Her recommendations were spot on and we had some delicious Russian cuisine with some really nice tea on a very cold day. Would recommend this if you would like experience local atmosphere and food. Worth a return visit!

Amazing Russian Cuisine

This was ABSOLUTELY THE BEST Russian food I’ve eaten in St Petersburg….. or for that matter anywhere. Restaurant Prospekt was supposed to be closed today, but Galina opened it up just for three of us to eat because she was told I was returning to America in 5 days. The food was delicious! We feasted on borsch, pelmini, strogonoff, fresh bread, salads and much much more. Plus it was very reasonably priced. The atmosphere was perfect. And the location is a travel bloggers dream come true.

A small but very cozy restaurant with a vintage interior is located on the street. Malaya Morskaya, 21. Wonderful service. The menu combines Russian and European cuisine. All dishes are beautifully presented and very tasty. The wine list is average. In general, the atmosphere is very cozy, almost homely. We had a great time here. Thanks a lot!

In the heart of St. Petersburg Prospect on the street

Yesterday I was in this restaurant with friends and occupied several tables. Cozy, atmospheric and very tasty. Russian cuisine was our priority. The dishes are large, beautifully presented. And most importantly - EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS. The prices are reasonable (despite the city center and the season)! The waiter was inconspicuous, but always anticipated expectations. Thank you

Very good -- freshly-made food, good value, and great service! Well-located near St. Isaac's Cathedral. The decor is homey, food rivals some of the fancier Russian restaurants in the area.

Wonderful little eatery in the heart of St Petersburg

Our family dined at Restaurant Prospekt about a week ago after our tiring trip from Europe. The place is nearby our hotel, hence it popped out on my Google search. Had a fantastic dinner with the family and our host (Sasha) was very kind and accomodating. Would recommend to those looking for affordable and simple home made Russian foods in a nice classic setting.

We were recommended this restaurant by an American lady who had dined there several times during her stay in St Petersburg. The cabbage soup is to die for, the restaurant is unpretentious, warm and welcoming and our waitress, Alex, had good English, was friendly and gave excellent service.

Lovely traditional food and warm service

My husband and I had dinner here on our last night in Russia, because of Prospekt's convenient location near our hotel and the excellent reviews we'd read. We were not disappointed, it was a great evening! The atmosphere was homey and welcoming, it had the feeling of eating in someone's private home. We received a warm welcome from our server, I didn't get her name but she was lovely, friendly and attentive, and helpful with the menu, especially at the end of our meal when my husband wanted to try some good Russian vodka, and she happily suggested what to order and showed him how to drink it and chase it with pickles for the best experience. Her pride in her culture was obvious and we were happy she shared it with us. She even surprised us with two souvenir magnets on our way out, to 'remember our trip to St. Petersburg', which was such a thoughtful gesture! The food was great too! Nothing modern or exciting, but tasty and well prepared traditional food, which is what we were looking for. I had the borscht which was full of flavour, along with a bread basket with tasty warm rolls and fresh butter. We shared the beef stroganoff and chicken cutlets for our mains, both of which were tender and comforting, accompanied with the creamiest mashed potatoes. The garlic sauce with the chicken cutlets and the lovely crispy texture of the breading was the highlight! The portions were so generous we sadly didn't have room for dessert, though the menu was tempting. Definitely a place to try for some authentic Russian cooking!

la pasamos estupendo, super lindo decorado, parecíamos en casa. very nice decoration, we felt at home. Excellent food comimos el lomo strogonoff. no sabíamos que era tan blandito porque era la comida para un noble que no tenía dientes. We ate a Strogonoff Beef. We didn´t know that this food was created in San Petersburg for a noble man, because he didn´t have any teeth. la en salada rusa, que comemos en casa, really was from here the russian salad. la dueña del restaurante nos ofreció un vodka, y al final nos sacó uno de extraordianrio sabor. The owner of the house was so kind to offer us some Vodka. At the end, she gave us the best vodka of the house. It was expectacular. excellent experiencia, excelente experiencia. mis Felicitaciones! Congratulations!!

Authentic Russian Restaurant

Charming Russian cafe near St. Isaac's Cathedral

Our first Eastern European meal in St. Petersburg, Russia, was a pleasant surprise. Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed by Alexandra; she was very easy to communicate with and explained the menu items to us. We were early so there were only a few customers seated for dinner. The borscht was delicious and we enjoyed the casserole of pork, vegetables, and potatoes; Alexandra recommended a red wine from Georgia. Just the right amount of food and at a reasonable price.
