One fun thing about Moscow is a completely different variety of available and popular cuisines. There are no tacos, but there's a lot of Georgian and Azerbaijani food, and this restaurant was the best entrée into the latter that we tried. Who doesn't like grilled meats, pilafs, garlic, and exotic spices (rare in Russian cuisine, we noticed)? This was a... More

Classy and trendy decor, extensive menu with items listed in Russian (and English right below), a lot of Russian and Eastern European options but other genres of food as well. We ordered the Azerbaijani dumplings (ground beef inside) that came with a side of sour cream, veal cutlets with risotto, and pesto pasta for two adults and a toddler. More... More

I had my first Azerbaijan meal and this restaurant is lovely. We were greeted and welcomed very warmly at the door that made us feel warm even when the temperature was actually minus 18 deg C. We ordered the traditional Azerbaijan dish and the service was excellent throughout our meal. The food was all delicious, the staffs were very friendly... More

The restaurant is part of the Novikov group. It specialises in Azerbaijani dishes. The choice is broad; I had pea soup with veal and smoked sausage followed by Azeri dumplings. Prices are reasonable by the standards of this area of Moscow but the drink prices are far too expensive.

We were greeted very nicely at the door, something we found to be a bit rare in Russia, and received excellent service throughout our meal. The food was all delicious and overall a great first experience with a new cuisine.

Barashka has a very central location, not far from the Bolshoi Theatre and ЦУМ. It offers food from Azerbeidzhan and everything is tasty and of high-quality. There are many choices, and the service is friendly and professional.

I've been to Barashka many times in my business travels to Moscow and am writing this review from the restaurant. For anyone staying at the Marriott Aurora or near Red Square, this place is a must. Excellent Azerbaijani food, friendly mostly English speaking wait staff and good service. Don't miss the hatchapuri with the egg, excellent tomato and onion salad... More

We wandered around the Tverskaya area of Moscow looking for a Georgian restaurant, but every Georgian restaurant we found was closed that day. We finally decided to eat at the next restaurant we found, and did we ever get lucky with Barashka! From the moment we walked in the door we felt like valued guests. It took a few minutes... More

Staying in Tverskaya

Neighbourhood Profile
Tverskaya
Tverskaya can’t be discovered with just a first glance, the neighborhood is shaped around a long street populated with well-known shops and brands. But it’s more than shopping that makes this place interesting. Take a few steps into the streets running parallel to the main artery to discover the charm just behind the mighty Stalinist style architecture. Comfy European pedestrian streets Bolshaya Dmitrovka or Stoleshnikov lane are a great place to start. Locals can be found here working, eating, shopping, resting and going to the Bolshoi Theatre in the evening.
