Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food is like home cooking with standards like omelettes and breakfast burritos. Servings are large, so please keep that in mind when ordering. Sandwiches and some Mexican dishes are also available and very good. We tried the cake (chocolate strawberry was excellent), but I would skip the cinnamon rolls - dry! We saw people eating ice cream sundaes and they looked awesome. This restaurant opens at 8AM and closes around 4PM - great hours for multiple meals. Prices are affordable - you order at the counter and they bring your food to your table (tables are hard to get during peak hours so be prepared).

Offers a wide variety of baked goods, bread and croissant-style sweets. Menu has many choices and prices vary quite a bit. Order at register, take number to your table, where food will be delivered. In- and out-door seating. Menus available in Eng and Spanish.

Tired of eggs, we opted for lovely porridge and fruit which comes with a coffee or tea. Quick service and good prices. Obviously it is a hangout for the expat community. The baked goods looked amazing.

I read on happy cow that this place had a separate vegan/vegetarian menu so we went for lunch. We had to ask for the special menu and had I not read they had it you would never know. It’s behind the counter. Wait in line and order at the counter. I had the ratatouille sandwich with no cheese and my partner had the enchiladas with cheese. We sat outside for the cool air but traffic noise is loud and fumes heavy. I really enjoyed my sandwich it was on soft fresh bread. Fries were cold and I wasn’t given very many. My partners enchiladas were weird. They were just soft tacos with cheese melted on the top. Not enchiladas as all and he said they were gross. I guess this place is hit and miss depending on what you order. I don’t think I would go back. Many other restaurants in town which are much better.

Our favorite 2 places were closed yesterday & it was raining so we ended up here. Have been here before, always with bad results but tried it again. 5 of us celebrating my 60th birthday. 3 of us ordered the special. BBQ chicken. It was a plain chicken sandwich. Nothing BBQ about it. Salad was plain lettuce. Lemonade had a big piece of lime in it totally spoiling the taste. 2 people finished eating by the time I finally got mine served. Instead of chicken, they served me a very salty roast beef sandwich. I didn't have time to send it back as we had other plans. 3 strikes and you're out. Never again!

Richard, the owner of Sugar and Spice, after hearing about Boquete Veteran Outreach’s Veteran Day luncheon was kind enough to donate a 1/2 sheet pan Chocolate Celebration Cake. Everyone in Boquete is aware of how awesome the food and bakery is at Sugar and Spice, and everyone was super pleased with our donated cake. We can’t thank Richard enough for his generous donation.

Their breads and desserts are delicious Our must stop for breakfast and Mexican lunch. The Tomatoes and veggie soup is a hearty serving and delicious Sadly the one deterrent is that panhandlers would walk into the restaurant while you are eating and refuse to leave till they get what they want from you. The staff was not helpful in making them leave either.

We have had breakfast a couple times and Sugar and Spice is a popular expat hang out. We frequently come to buy fresh baked bread and other bakery goods. The staff are wonderful and with my limited Spanish, they make my visits easy.

My husband and I have stopped here several times while visiting the area. The food is wonderful and fresh. They have a wonderful selection of breakfast items something for everyone but my favorite was the Ole Scrambled breakfast bowl with scrambled eggs, pico de gallo, cheddar cheese & sour cream on top of crispy tater tots. We also had several salads all all were great and nice portions. Another favorite was the Hot Volcano Sandwich (it was not that spicy) with a side of pasta salad. We sampled several desserts and muffins and all of it good. If you are in the area this place is a wonderful stop!

I saw this place listed in our tour books as a great place for breads and desserts. All of the local hotels and restaurants get their bread from here. We stopped in to grab some desserts to bring back to our hotel to try. We got a piece of red velvet cake, Oreo cake and chocolate cake. They were all just okay and nothing spectacular in my opinion. The red velvet didn't really taste like cream cheese frosting. They had some other things that definitely looked delicious and I wouldn't not go back to try other things! Definitely check them out for great bread or breakfast or lunch if you are in the area!

We’ve now visited this little gem three times during our visit. We had sandwiches for breakfast one day, and Mexican specialities for late lunches on the other two occasions. We tried their takeaway bread, rolls and quiche - all delicious. Food is hot, portions are generous and the ambience is fabulous, such a lovely place to sit and enjoy a meal. Hubby raved about his banana smoothie.

Must visit while in Boquete; everything is delicious and the menu has something for everyone. The owners are very friendly and have created a space with delicious food, bread and pastries, as well as a great sense of community. You can tell this is the spot where locals gather with friends to enjoy a nice meal; we met a lot of locals who go there regularly not only because the food is so good, but also because everyone is so friendly. Can’t recommend enough!!

We have been coming here for years. Really enjoy the breakfast selection the fresh breads that they make. You get free refills on your coffee. Great sandwiches for lunch time. And it's a great time to go through all their delicious looking and tasting desserts muffins pies and cakes. Highly recommend this place for breakfast lunch and desserts.

Great breakfast spot. Lots of sweet and savory options - breads, eggs, sandwiches, all kinds of stuff - and good stuff to go too. The employees all seemed happy. Very well run business and we enjoyed it a lot.

Breads are great, except for a horrible brown loaf. Food is good, not awesome. The quality of the pastries has decreased with time, the brownies are airy instead heavy and dense, and the "m&m'on top are the cheapest imitation, the pastry fillings are very commercially done, nothing special, except for the cream cheese fillings. Years ago, the variety and quality of the muffins were outstanding, now most of the muffins taste almost the same. It's sad I can't buy their baking goods as before
