We’re glad we found Donde Giselle! We live in Boca Chica, Chiriqui and had to come to Boquete on a Wednesday. Our normal choices were closed, but we saw that this place was open.
Immediately we walked in the door, the staff were welcoming and the charming outside garden with comfortable seating beckoned to us.
As soon as we saw the menu, we agreed that we’d order 3 appetizers to share for lunch. We chose well!
Each dish was beautifully presented and expertly crafted, the flavors were a delight to the palate (I drool as I remember!).
Caramiñolas de Ossobucco
carimañolas stuffed with Ossobucco served with their own stew - a crispy outer on a perfectly smooth mashed potato, encasing an unctuous ‘ossobucco’ type stew… as I said … drooling remembering!
Pulpo Parrillero
Parrillero (on an open charcoal grill) Octopus• comes accompanied by a delicious squid ceviche, crispy patacones and yellow chili sauce. The description CANNOT describe the soft and flavorsome octopus, or the very thin and very crispy patacones, nor the equally soft and delicious squid ceviche - perfectly flavored without the overt vinegar of some ceviches. The yellow chili sauce is HOT, perfect for us, but a word of caution!
Unfortunately I could not find a menu description of the Beef Carpaccio - the plating was gorgeous - the beef cut perfectly, tissue paper thin (applause for the chef here!) It was served traditionally with a generous sprinkling of fresh parmesan. There were also fried capers and a garnish of onion and a mystery green sauce that was very mild.
Everything was wonderful. They made my husband a smoothie that wasn’t on the menu (he wanted Passion fruit “maracuya”) - after telling us they didn’t have it, something delicious and very passion fruit heavy arrived at our table.
The staff were impeccable. It cost us for the 3 appetizers and a drink $50. Not cheap by Panamanian standards - but to these foodies - well worth every single cent.

The place was recommended by the hotel where we are staying. Exquisite fish! We tried octopus as an appetizer that melted in the mouth. The typical dish - Panamanian rice - is worth trying: it is very tasty and rich in fish. Even the fish with the really delicious sauce. For spicy lovers, you have to try the hot sauce of the house. A real pepper bomb. We recommend taking the house water because a bottle costs more than $5. Very romantic location.

Good atmosphere and very busy. Service was good.
Nice meal we had the local trout and Banana leaf Rice dishes, both of which were well cooked and presented.
Wine was rather expensive at 31$, we had the same bottle in Panama City the night before for 25$.

Decided to try this restaurant for dinner tonight, and tried the pigeon peas with fried pork belly. It was pretty good, but when it was time for the bill, I gave them my Pensionado card to receive my countrywide discount for restaurants, airlines, medicine, and transportation, and the manager told me that I would not be receiving the discount because it is only for Jubilados which are residents 55 and older. I informed him that it is also for Pensionado's, and he shows me a tablet that states that the discount is for Jubilados and Pensionado's, but his reading comprehension of the countrywide law/policy was totally lacking. He was also impatient as I tried to explain to him with limited Spanish, and very rude about it. Because my Spanish isn't the best, and he was talking over me, it made me very frustrated. I also noticed that management was very friendly and would visit each White gringo's tables to ask if they enjoyed the meal, smile and talk very friendly with them to make them feel welcome, they looked at me, but never came to ask how my meal was. I felt very discriminated against, which is very unusual for Panama. Needless to say, I will never be back, as they have not educated their staff on the laws regarding pensionado discounts, and I wasn't made to feel welcome.

While the service at Donde Gisselle was very good, the food quality was disappointingly inconsistent. My wife and I each had two appetizers and a dessert. The big green salad (Ensalada Campesina) was very good; the beet salad (Ensalada de Toldo) was flavorless. The beef/cheese dish (Hojaldras con Tasajo de mi Abuela) was tasty; the Ceviche de Corvina, served in a 20-ounce ice cream sundae bowl, had only three small pieces of corvina totalling about one ounce. A bowl of sliced onion swimming in lime juice and camouflaged with a topping of crisps is not our idea of ceviche. The Passion Fruit (Maracuyá) Pie was almost delicious; the Tres Leches Cake was soggy and tasted like the smell of Play Dough. With one 750ml bottle of sparkling water and a 15% tip, the meal cost $64.

Everything we ate was delicious, started with the chiccharones and ossobuco fritters that were out of this world, then had the “el mono” on recommendation from the server as a traditional Panamanian meal and also had the salmon and the basil mashed potatoes were the start of the show. Would recommend this place to anyone I know. So good!

Incredible meal. Cocktails are original and delicious (and some of the few in Boquete w alcohol in them :) )
We had ceviche, the traditional soup (chicken, otoe (like yucca), and corn), and the local trout (tank-raised in the hills around Boquete). Every dish is thoughtfully put together, fresh, and as local as possible.
Even though it’s not on the menu, servers are knowledgeable about what is gluten free and what’s not and very attentive to that. Much appreciated.
Eat here when you are in Boquete!

100% recommended, service 10 out of 10, Ewell was always attentive to our table and the food not to mention. The chicharrón guacho is a must at this place, as well as the special croaker mono and the passion fruit pie. This is one of the must-go places in Boquete.

We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday during a huge rainstorm, but we will come back in any weather. The food is absolutely delicious! We had the chicken and rice as well as the chicken soup. Both were amazing. We paired that with a wine and Balboa beer and it was perfect. The service was also wonderful. It is a must stop in Boquete! We will be back!

We ordered el Capricho Woodfired Pizza, la Ensalada Campesina and the Tres Leches Cake and all of the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The service was impeccable, all staff were cordial, attentive and engaging. Our Coronas were served ice cold alongside chilled glasses with a shot of lime juice. This was the absolute BEST Tres Leches Cake I have ever had!

We came upon this gem on our second night in Boquete. Everything about Donde Giselle is excellent - food, service, prices and atmosphere. We split 3 delicious (and beautifully plated) appetizers. We enjoyed our experience so much that we returned the next afternoon for a small snack and cocktails. Despite the wide selection of options on the menu, we had the carimañuelos again because they were that good!

Definitely the place to go if you want delicious Panamanian food (oh, and the pizza is outstanding)! We didn't have a reservation so were initially seated inside but they had a cancellation and re seated us outside (which was our request)...the staff are very attentive and accommodating. They have the best ceviche that we had in all of Panama...the crispy pork belly is also very good. Recommend this place either for lunch or for dinner.

The personal was very friendly and paid attention to our satisfactory all the time. Food was great, it was easy to communicate the eating districtions (we easily got no cilantron to the appetizer and ice cream separated from brownie). Everything was perfect. Food, atmosphere, service, wine.

There is no shortage of good food in Boquete town ... but Donde Giselle really stood out! The food & restaurant atmosphere is based on local Panama cuisine and culture ... even the chef and waiters were dressed in traditional clothing. The food was so good we returned again the following night. The Donde Giselle signature gin cocktail was also a real treat. Highly recommended.

Super delicious food. We had octopus for starters and fish with seafood and pork ribs for the main course. Everything was super tender, cooked to perfection and really tasty. For dessert we had a pastry with homemade ice cream which was also great. Unfortunately we forgot to take pictures
