We visited during a fairly quiet time so had terrific attention. Breakfast with an array of breads and rolls, fresh fruit, cooked food. We also had a take away breakfast on the day we did our amazing kayaking tour. They gave us a fabulous spread.

We dropped in here for a quiet dinner and were the only customers in (we were early) for most of our dinner. Service was pretty good and the food was reasonably priced and well cooked. My wife found the Calamari basket too much (the waiter said nobody seems to finish it) and my grilled fish was enjoyable. House white was... More

Nice lunch well served and good value. Had Lamb chops and the Calamares also looked OK. This is not fine dining like Hansa Hotel but good to average food. No other diners so lacked atmosphere but convenient for the sea front area.

The staff was very friendly and delivered excellent service. However, although the breakfast was good, the dinner was very poor.

The bistro is part of the Zum Kaiser hotel, has a friendly atmosphere and is a nice place to start the day having breakfast here. The offerings were many and good.

The selection of cereals on offers was adequate as was the bread, cheese and fruits. Not much of a choice for hot breakfast but again adequate. However, the plates were cold which we hate! As the breakfasts were included in our stay, we cannot really comment on the value for money. Definitely not up to the same standard as the hotel.... More

OK, so nobody in Namibia seems to have hot coffee or decent bread, and this place didn't disappoint either, but the buffet array was thin and uninspired and even the omelettes to order (which, of course, takes more time than you could imagine, so if you stay at the hotel here and breakfast is included, and you didn't come to... Food and service is great yet prices are surprisingly cheap. The food is excellent and basic; (no frilly or distracting garnishing, just proper good food. Loved having sundown cocktails (which are very well prepared and cheap) as well on their terrace. Zum Kaiser is a MUST for anyone in Swakop.

Good choice of food for breakfast. Good and friendly service. Steps into the Bistro are a bit steep and could be slippery when wet as they are tiled.

We have now been to zum kaiser twice because we so enjoyed the first meal. The service is outstanding. The decor is rather cavernous, cold and bland sadly. Otherwise very enjoyable. The first time we had a mixed pork dish with the best ever saurkraut. Good dessert too. The second time we shared a meatball dish as a started. They... More
