This time we dined in the evening. It was quieter than the lunchtime service of previous years and we had a table inside. There's no messing with the food here, with fabulous fish and seafood on the doorstep there's no need. Lovely, tasty dishes and a wide choice.

We were in the Chalet La Plage for lunch and found the restaurant pretty empty. The waiter was a bit reserved, but later on showed to have good humour. The ordered fish was good, but not outstanding. The view on the beach is really nice, but I found it disturbing that so called musicians approached from the beach with terrible music... More

I don't understand how so many people gave positive reviews. This restaurant is very average, especially if you are sea food amateur like me. The oysters and paella were average. Too spicy, you couldn't even taste the sea food in the rice. Service is meh. The space is likable at least...

Waited for ONE hour and this was literally what I got! It looks even cheaper than some random tagine on the street and the tagine pot looks like it had never been washed - all burned and horrible! Don't understand why this restaurant has such high rating but all I can say is it has bad quality of food and... More

We were recommended this place by our hotel but found it to be nothing more than ok as far as the food and service was concerned. The menu was ok, the staff were ok and the food was ok. The interior feels like you've time travelled back to the 1950's but the views across the beach and bay however made... More

We arrived without booking, picking this restaurant as we walked along the seafront because of its position and windows overlooking the bay. The person who met us as we walked in was larger than life, incredibly loud and affable and absolutely certain he would be able to give us what we wanted. The restaurant was not busy and so were... Search for this as Le Chalet de la Plage because the alternative name, Chez Jeannot, doesn't seem to register. This is a traditional Moroccan restaurant but with a very nautical theme, not surprising as it is right on the north end of the beach. Food is heavily fish based but it was our first night in Morocco for a while... More

A bit more upscale than the fish stands along the square, Le Chalet has beautiful fish dishes. We recommend the tagines, but the whole fish (accompanied with frites) is also good.

Buit entriely of wood in 1893 by the Farraud familly, the Chalet de la plage has seen four generation of owners in its century in existence. without ever failing to live up to this reputation for excellence. wether run by the De Soto family, ,by the hoisnards or -as nowadays- the "Jeannots", the welcome has always been as warm, the view of the port and the islands as impressive, and the fish, seafood and shellfish as fresh and delicious on your plate. over the years the decor has naturally enough been embellished with a thousand and one souvenirs, and today's clients come from all over the worls - artists, sport enthisiasts, poets, or simply anonymous lovers seduced by the timeless charm of EssaouiraEn 1965, la famille Jeannot a repris ce restaurant ouvert depuis 1893 et en a fait une veritable institution a Essaouira et au Maroc.
