Famous for its caramelized hot spring pudding and soft steamed eggs, Okamotoya Baiten is the place to stop in Myoban. It has other delicious snacks besides the pudding and eggs, including soba and udon meals. Parking is usually plentiful but the lot can fill up....The staff is friendly. While here, check out the huts beside the baiten where sulfur is collected for adding to baths. Visited 3 April 2020.More

We came there on a sunday noon for lunch. We ordered one toriten and waited for more than 30min. When other customers who came after us and got the food earlier than us, we asked the lady( i think she's the manager) why it took...so long. She scolded us that we have to wait in order. What the hell? And then when another lady came, we came her our order number and asked her again. She kept going to the kitchen and then asked us again what we ordered for twice. Eventually we were so tired and angry so we left. Not only because we waited for too long.BUT also the attitude of the manager! She scolded us as if we wanted to cut the line.More
This is the where the famed "hot spring steamed pudding" was invented. The store / restaurant was located right in the center of Myoban Onsen area, around 30-minute bus ride from the city center. The pudding was much better than I had expected. It smelled...good; it tasted sophisticatedly good; it was adequately sweet. I really enjoyed the pudding as the steams of the Onsen floated everywhere around. It was 260 yen each.More
