This place was easy enough to find down the alley across from the post office and met all my expectations for a good meal of Soba while in Matsumoto. We had to wait for a table at lunch time mid week which is not necessarily a bad thing. Rewarded with refreshing and well presented meals.

Was really surprised to read the middling reviews so far -- my wife and I found this to be a great soba place. You could see into right where the soba was being made, and the cold soba with tempura was great for lunch on a hot day. For what it's worth, there was a line of locals waiting outside... More

I spent quite some time looking for this restaurant. It was hidden in the building next to Toyoko Inn. Tried the soba in soup, with mountain vegetables and mushrooms. All I can say is I should have ordered the cold soba with tempura. It would have been a better and safer bet.

We were family of 4 , had to wait a bit as it was full. We were having the traditional soba dumplings and the hot soba meal. Waitress was lovely and recommended the right choices. Food and atomosphere were great!

This is a nice place for lunch in town. The place is nice, the food is very good. The mountain veggie noodles soup is especially good.

Found this cute restaurant in the laneway between streets as we looked to try the local soba noodles. This place certainly didn't disappoint - decor was beautiful, service great, and food spot on! The meal sets seem to be the way to go, with tasty soba noodles & a good amount of tempura. Also tried the soba with duck which... More

We went here for lunch and we had been queuing for about 40 minutes before our turn. There were only 3 waitresses at the hall at that time and they didn't seem like they can handle the guests efficiently. They arranged a 6 people table for just the 2 of us even there was a long queue outside. They have... More

Opposite the post office on the main drag heading up to the castle and it's on the main road. Sign is in Japanese. Not much English spoken but they do have an English menu. Beautifully cooked yakitori chicken and the soba in soup are juicy and full of flavour. Soups do taste very different (we tried the chicken and the... More

The kindness of staff was apparent as soon as they saw our Japanese did not extend beyond greeting and thanking them. They were happy to explain dishes and the food was amazing! The restaurant was almost full but service was not rushed. We enjoyed the semi private dining spaces and the stuffed dumplings, soba noodles and tempura were all lovely.

The menu is straightforwardly soba. I would recommend the cold soba for sure. I ordered the cold coba with a side of duck meat. The ambience is vibrant with a definite local crowd. The location is convenient but may be easy to overlook. It is next to a Gyukaku.
