Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I ordered the Lunch Box Special on a recent Saturday from my job which is very close by. Actually, it's across the street. I was disappointed by the hour delay for the delivery. Also the lunch box portions were so small that you can't even...call the whole box an appetizer. The taste was poor. the rice was not fresh, The salmon was too saucy and over powered everything else. Charge more money for the Specials, but give a reasonable amount of food.More

My daughter & I visited for lunch in the recommendation of my boss. It was a win. We both ordered the shrimp tempura lunch box & it was very good. The portions were generous & the salad dressing was excellent. The only reason I didn't...give it 5 stars is the fact that they do not give ice tea or soda refills for free. I would definitely recommend!More

The service was extremely indifferent and the waitress could hardly be found, even though almost no one was dining there at the time. When we asked her questions about the menu, she had no interest in giving us any information about some the items we...were unfamiliar with. When we needed more soy sauce, we went to look for her. We found 3 waitresses just standing around talking. They told us they could not get the sauce since we were not her assigned table. So rude. The food was only fair. Never returning with such poor customer service.More

Simply put, great food, great service. Some of the best sushi I've ever eaten. The staff is courteous, helpful and professional. I had a Toro Tuna that was so good I wanted to bring some home. The sushi Chef advised me that the taste would...be different than if eaten in the restaurant, that the flavors would change from absorbing the sauce. Refusing a sale because it would affect the taste and quality??? I'm sold. I'm bringing the family back on Friday so they can taste the excellence. It's pricey, but the quality is there. My new favorite place for sushi.More

Basically we go here because our grandson likes the hibachi. Food is consistently good and plentiful. It is fun to watch the chef do hibachi. We usually order the soba hibachi. It is very good. It comes with soup, salad, tea and entree.Sometimes I go there for...lunch with friends who like the sushi. You can't go wrong here.More

The food is fresh, always served hot. Pleasant ambience and staff. The sushi is delicious and fresh. Pricing is on par for an upscale casual Japanese restaurant. Always busy, which means alot.

This place used to be called Hokkaido. They've been there a long time. Staff is friendly and attentive. I go there often enough that they know me by name, know that I always drink seltzer and lemon. I sometimes go there with the boys, and...sometimes with my wife. Now let me start by saying I like sushi. I mean, I really like sushi. Like, Greenpeace gets alerted when I arrive because I may deplete some species from the ocean. Sakaya is my favorite place. Although I recently reviewed the Marriott Grand Cayman and said their Tuna Tower is the best sushi dish I've ever had, my favorite roll is at Sakaya, The Rising Sun. Shrimp tempura and avocado, topped with real crab meat and caviar. Simple enough roll, but the textures, the warmth of the shrimp sort of melting the avocado...it's just beyond ridiculous how good that roll is. They have salmon belly on the menu. Think toro from a salmon. It's my new favorite thing. Their prices are slightly higher than other local places, but the quality of their fish is always better than anywhere else. It's worth every penny. It's my favorite place in NY, and there are numerous sushi restaurants to go to in NY.More

We frequent this place. The food as always good and we can usually get a table. I like the hibachi dinners, but the regular Japanese food menu is also very good.

This was the replacement for Hokkaido, which closed several years ago. Food was always inconsistent, rarely had custom items available. Our favorite staff members left. Have not returned.

We recently had lunch at Sakaya. The ramp to bring up the stroller and wheel chair is located on the said of the restaurant where no one can help you open the door if you're alone. There's no changing area for babies. Aside from that,...the restaurant is ok. Price is ok. The head waiter from Malaysia was entertaining although there were times I just wanted him to keep quiet so I could enjoy my meal. We were in the hibachi room. The cooks were entertaining. My shrimp was ok but my steak lacked flavor. Nothing special with their sushi rolls. The restaurant design is nice. Very inviting. They can make use of more friendly hosts.More
