We went there because we saw some good reviews and the location is perfect and romantic. we ordered the fish and the meat platter, the fish was only edible after we drowned it in lemon.
The potatoes that came along were cold and not fresh....After we got the fish we tried to cancel the meat platter and they wouldn't allow us.
The meat looked like rubber and ruined my appetite.
My wife tasted the meat and it was disgusting.
We tried to return it and got yelled at, only after we insisted, we got the check paid for the fish and left as fast as possible hungry and unsatisfied.More
Went for evening meal - great 5 star location with outside seating with heaters on the promenade by the Sea of Galilee. Good menu we enjoyed the food we had it was okay. But the help was very disappointing. We left an appropriate tip of...20%, but was told it was not sufficient. the server DEMANDED a minimum of 25% or more. I originally planned to leave 15% feeling the service did not earn even that. POOR to awful service.More
Went for evening meal - great 5 star location with outside seating with heaters on the promenade by the Sea of Galilee. Good menu and nice mezze for a free starter, but slightly disappointed with the mixed grill as it was a bit too dry...with no garnish.More
Our guide recommend Galei Gil for lunch which a surprise because we were longing for seafood meals after grilled meats, hommus and Falafel. The fish is local Tilapia and came with salad, potatoes and of course pocket bread, all very reasonably priced. We were seated...outside, sunny day not much wind along the banks looking out for fishing boats across the Sea of Galilee. Beautiful setting to see wooden boats re-enacting Jesus boat crossing. Our meal was excellent and recommend coming back.More
During our short stay in Tiberius and walk along the boardwalk, we sat down at Galei Gil for a snack and beer. Our choice was in part by default--we were surprised to see an almost complete lack of people on the promenade by the lake...around 11:30 am, and virtually nothing was open. Galei Gil certainly hit the spot. We ordered simple chicken wings and pita/hummus. Both were fresh and delicious. Kudos for the incredibly warm and friendly service whereby you are made to feel like a member of the family.More
Walking along the promenade we liked the menu and decided to give it a try. What we had come across was one of the best fish restaurants we've been in --we're from the Chesapeake Bay area so we do know fish restaurants.
We had grilled...St. Peters Fish, a dish we've only found in Israel, and it was done perfectly. The fish had been butterflied and grilled to a golden brown with a hint of garlic. It was served with roast potatoes, salad, olives. We liked it all so much that we're planning to go back to try a different fish. We stopped off for Gelato after the meal -- perfect. The meal for two with beer ran 205 shekels, with a tip it was 235 shekels or about $67More
