The Tree of Life is one of Safed's best-kept secrets. Nestled inside the Old City walls, this unassuming little cafe boasts some of the best home-cooked vegetarian food around, lovingly prepared and served with a smile. We ordered the quinoa salad and quesadillas and they...were absolutely delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and bursting with flavor. The owner, Faigy, was even kind enough to share the recipe/cooking method with us! I'll definitely be coming back for seconds the next time I'm in town :)More

I was privileged to receive a GIFT bag of goodies which included a cheesecake from Tree of Life. It was so good! The cheese filling had a creamy consistency and was slightly sweet, not too sugary, I suspect it was sweetened with honey. The crust...was made of graham cracker crumbs. I took one bite and savored it and then another bite and decided it was so good that I would make it last by saving the rest for the next two days, one delicious bite or two at a time. THATWAS TRULY A LUXURY treat. From now on I will purchase all my cheesecakes from Tree of Life. Whatever the PRICE it is WORTH IT!More

The owner is nice and friendly. It’s a good choice for the vegans tired of the hummus and the false vegan options of the local restaurant. We had an hamburger and a tofu salad, then two slices of cakes (apple pie and a fudge chocolate...cake) and two espresso. Everything was tasty. I recommend the chocolate fudge cake! We spent 195 nis.More

I have been to Tree of Life on three occasions this year. Once I ordered the Quinoa Stir Fry, Once I ordered a Healthy Green Smoothie and once a Green Salad. My experience was mostly positive. The service was timely and the garnishes attractive. The...ingredients were fresh. The wait staff treated us courteously even when we arrived right before closing hours. One of the ingredients in the smoothie I ordered was out of stock and the restaurant asked if it could substitute two other ingredients that were in stock instead. I agreed and they did not increase the price when there was an extra ingredient added. The quality of the ingredients, the appealing presentation, the integrity of the staff/owner and the healthy selection make the Tree of Life a "go-to" destination for me when eating in Tzfat..More

After 4 days of falafel and shawarma, I really needed some variety and was pleasantly surprised to find Tree of Life in this old city. There are several options on the menu but went for the vegetarian burger with hummus. It was delicious. I topped...it off with a green juice and sampled their delicious muffins. For those looking for vegetarian (no more falafel please!) or vegan, or even just a change to the Israeli street food, make a visit. It’s not cheap but it’s worth it.More

We enjoyed sitting at the square and watching the world go by. However our food was very bland, stodgy and overpriced. Definitely the worst meal we ate in Safed.

We were happy to find this spot as my son has many food restrictions, and he opted for a vegan quesadilla. After waiting way too long, a heap of black beans with a little bit of nasty vegan cheese arrived a top a broken and...disgusting tortilla. It looked and smelled vile, but worst of all, he was sick for hours afterwards. Kind staff doesn't make up for what this place lacks in taste. You could do better in your own kitchen. Take a pass.More
