If you are looking for unique wines with a unique story, then consider putting this winery on your list to visit. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable, passionate about what they do and happy to share their story and wines with you. We tasted 4-6...wines and began to understand we could expect a bit of a surprise - and a nice one - from each. The wines were different and interesting. You aren't going to have a leisurely afternoon with a cheese platter and a mountain view here. But we weren't expecting that and we were definitely happy we had taken the time to get to know both the wines and the owners.More

When I went, there was only a very young man tending the place. He asked if I wanted to taste the wines, but at that point, I didn't. There was no tour, but I was able to look around at the various implements and machines...used for the wine production. There was no wine production going on at that time, since the harvest isn't until the end of the summer and early fall. The young man did tell me something of the history, but I didn't end up staying too long.More

I purchased a case of wine from Old Zefat Winery when visiting Zefat and told the exact date I would arrive in the USA and please send it on that date. Even than I found I had to call them in Israel after several weeks...after my arrival home because I did not receive the wine. Once I receive the wine and open the case the order was not what I specially ordered. I than speak with Moshe Alon the owner and he is arguing with me that is what I ordered. As if I don’t what I ordered. It was a simple order of eight bottles of the same wine and four bottles of the same liquor. Couldn’t be simpler, yet they screw the order up and he is rude on top of it. In addition, when I add up what I was sent I was overcharged by over one hundred dollars. Now I need to contact my credit card company. There are many winery’s in Zefat, go elsewhere. RIP-OFFMore

I enjoy to get a glimpse of where the wine is made. Such full bodied wines are rare today. Reminds me of Côtes du Rhône in France or Montepulciano in Italy, with strongly expressed tannins, this is an amazing way to accompany good cheeses.

Rather surprising to find a winery in the Old City of Safed. And even more surprising to find it has good wine. Wine tasting takes place in the same structure that houses the wine making equipment. Not elegant - in fact, we tasted out of...plastic cups. We settled on two bottles of Cab 2010 that did not disappoint for NIS 85 each. Reasonable. Not everything we tasted was to our taste, such as a semi dry Cab that was interesting but more fitting as a Kiddush wine than one for serious enjoyment. Worth the time to visit.More

Love talking to the very person who made the wine, and then tasting. Good hosts and lots of fun, wines in different price ranges.
