Living in Bali we have a huge pick of where to eat, we decided to take a trip up to ubud. We had a look at reviews and decided on Copper Kitchen… The restaurant is located down a road off the main road into ubud...and not the easiest to navigate on arrival we had requested an outside table and where seated, we all asked for coffee before we looked at the menu, and decided on cappuccino and Latte’s My husband and friends asked for theirs extra hot as usually coffee in bali is served Luke warm at best, on arrival the coffees were just that and they all asked for them to be hotter.. on arrival back the lattes were in a glass and just as my husband raised the glass the whole thing split into 2 and covered him from chest to toe in coffee (luckily the coffee was still not to hot) The staff came out and seemed to be all confused what to do, myself and friends all gave him our napkins and checked that he was ok…. They then brought him napkins and cold towels!!! He asked if they had a gift shop as he literally was saturated in coffee he was informed “NO” The restaurant is located inside a hotel yet he had to them walk 300 metres to find himself a lovely “I love bali” t shirt which cost him 200,000 RP He had asked to speak to the manager and was told he would be there at 3pm this was now 1:10pm, the staff had said they would take his starter and main off the hill yet at this time we hadn’t even ordered!! He asked to get the manager on the phone, 5 minutes later the hotel GM arrived and was apologetic about the whole issue and concerned my husband was injured by the coffee or broken glass. We explained we didn’t want recompense but for the staff to be trained what to do in an evening this, this could have been a whole lot worse had the coffee been hot as requested and they didn’t seem to react as they should when an accident happens. The GM informed that he would discuss training for the staff. All in all the food was mediocre and the wine is so over inflated in price it’s eye watering We know import taxes for alcohol are high but the locally produced wine is the same price ad the imported wines which is just ridiculous. I don’t think I’d be rushing to return. The satay was over cooked, the pomelo salad was weird tasting and I’ve lived in both Thailand and Vietnam which this dish is served everywhere, the Nasi Goreng was the stand out dish as this was definitely tasty, the chocolate tart with peanut ice cream was also delicious but everything else was just “ok” much better restaurants in and around the area in my opinionMore
