Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Looking for a low key, non casino feel? The Back Bay Ale House is the perfect choice. Located off the beaten path in an old house, this place has charm. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the burger, buffalo chicken sandwich, and chicken fingers. All...would be recommended. You really can’t go wrong here— especially if you like a neighborhood feel.More

Discovered this while on vacation. Not familiar with the area so it took a while to find. Very busy so I wanted to get a to go order. After waiting, they said that they were not taking to go orders for the evening. Unpleasant experience.

Stopped in the other Saturday after taking a boat ride and was lucky enough to find a spot at the hut. This time we decided on the 16 ounce mason jar. We both decided on the same drink that we had a few weeks ago...(simple because they were very tasty). The bartenders are wonderful people and are so friendly. We hope the weather stays nice so we can stop in one more time this year yet.....More

The host (older lady) seemed to have an issue with us. We were pleasant and she asked how many and at first I said 4 and corrected the count to 5 and that seemed to annoy her. She put us in the wait list. Waited...an hour to be put upstairs in a 4 top when there were TONS of 4 top options available the whole time of the wait. There was a bench setting for 6 available and the person walking us upstairs said they weren’t seating it. We waited an hour for NO reason there were plenty of 4 tops all over. Seems INTENTIONAL.More

Food and drinks. Indoor and outdoor on the bay. Old house from the neighborhood renovation into a restaurant back in the 80s.

We decided to ride our bikes down the boardwalk and over to Gardner's Basin for the afternoon and check out the sites. We decided to stop in at the Back Bay Ale House for a drink and was lucky enough to find sitting at the...hut in the back. We both decided on the 32 ounce drink and was very happy with our selection ~~~ we just did not know that the drinks were served in a mason jar ~~~ very surprised at the size of the drinks ~~~ not disappointed at all just very surprised. I decided on the Rum Runner and my husband went with Sex on the Bay, both were very tasty. Our bartenders were very friendly and happy people. We had a wonderful time, with beautiful views of the bay, what matter way to spend a Sunday afternoon with a drink in your hand and a beautiful view to watch.....More

This place was crowded being one of the only ones open Monday. Service was slow but pleasant. Menu choices were few and far between if you don't like fried food and spicy food. Crowd outside got rowdy and inappropriate for families and children. Nice view...of sunset over bay. Ample parking.More

I wanted to find a special place to celebrate while away for the w/e in NJ. After arriving for dinner, I was disappointed that without reservations my family would need to wait 90 mins for a table. To our great fortune, we were able to...score seats at the "hut" for drinks. Even better, we learned we could dine right there. We're glad that we did as Kim D. and Jackie N. couldn't be more hospitable and responsive to our drink and dinner requests. It was a busy night and I've never seen two women work the bar better together while keeping a courteous demeanor to all of the guests around the hut. My family and I (Ralph) felt we were treated very special too. The food was hot and delicious, and the drinks were the best (my wife recommends the frozen mudslide). Thank you for a memorable Father's Day. You can't go wrong eating and drinking here when visiting Atlantic City, NJMore

This little restaurant, located on the bay, is not in the main gambling section of Atlantic City. That is a plus. A neat little spot with friendly staff and very good food.

We were just exploring the area and were actually waiting on food at another restaurant when we found this place. We were quickly seated outside, which was packed. The waitress was super helpful. I had a drink and wound up getting the crab cake sandwich...which was so good. My friend had the lobster sandwich, which had a shell in it. The place was a good find and will add to my list to visit again in the area.More

I have been going to Back Bay Ale House for years. Been there dozens, and dozens of times. Always very good service, pretty good pub cuisine, nice atmosphere by the water. I always thought it had good value. I went there on this Wednesday. Shrimp...Po Boy, was very good, My wife had the Tuna wrap which was excellent. Started out just fine. Got food very quickly. Then the server just disappeared, My wife ordered another wine, which never came. This idiot waited on another table of 8. Took the cocktail orders, served the drinks, and then took their food orders. I sat there for over 20 minutes trying to a box and a check. Then when is voice my displeasure, this incompetent actually got an attitude. I could not believe it!More

Everything was delicious! I had the ribeye steak sandwich and it was an actual delicious steak. If you're looking for a cheesesteak this isn't it. My husband had fish and it was awesome as well. Sides were perfect and I heartily recommend the blueberry lemonade.

We do Happy Hour in the off season. Since Covid hit we could not afford to discount during season, so Yes, Covid is the reason we did not do happy hour. It has since returned (as of two weeks ago)
