We went to this restaurant based on Gordon Ramsey’s reputation. So, coming to a restaurant with HIS name on it…….has to be outrageously delicious, if not perfect, right?
I’m sorry to say I was so wrong and surely so disappointed. Here’s what happened. We made...reservations for last Friday night. We arrived a little early and had a drink at the bar with Michael the bartender. He’s the best by the way! Our table was ready and they sat us in the main dining room. The décor was no better than a roadside diner with an LED shop light over our booth, gold vinyl covered booth seats, no table cloth on the bare wooden table. The place setting was limited to one knife and one fork. The table looked completely barren and cold. The noise level of the room was unacceptable. We were also a little disappointed on the dress code. It was our anniversary so we dressed up a bit, but folks were there in t-shirts and shorts.
The waiter, Dennis, if I remember correctly, came over, got our drink order and took our dinner order. I ordered the filet, asking for it medium, pink throughout. My partner ordered the rib eye, medium, pink throughout. We also ordered a huge baked potato. We limited the side order to a baked potato because we overheard the booth behind us state their sides were dry and cold.
After a short while, our dinner was served. My filet was dry and cooked well done. The rib eye was slightly medium but was also dry and fatty, but not marbled at all like rib eye is supposed to be! Both pieces of beef were under-seasoned and over-cooked. After a few bites of the dry steaks, we asked for the check since we felt we were punished enough.
What a disappointment! For the prices this restaurant charges, it should have been top shelf. Gordon, if you ever read reviews, I’d be interested to know what the heck happened to you? Or, are you just riding on your name and don’t care how the food in your restaurant is cooked or what is served to your guests?
Don’t waste your time here folks and avoid this restaurant at all costs! The restaurant next door called La Strata in Harrah’s looked elegant, and people were waiting to get in. We’ll go there next time!More
