Make sure you check ahead to see if they are open. Amazing little piece of Japan meets upscale sushi bar, the little bridge is just the forefront of the place, the staff, atmosphere and food were all amazing.
We live close by. This has become a weekly stop for us because of the awesome food and service (which is not commonplace these days in case you haven't been out to dinner or haven't been paying attention). Michael the Waiter is fantastic as is...Winson the Bartender. They make the experience special every time we go. Do I miss the Duck Scrapple buns??? YES I DO!!! But I'm sure they will be back soon enough. Fav items are the soup dumplings (which are so unique and flavorful), wagyu sliders, gyoza dumplings (with the corn starch crispy top), any of the skewers are a hit as is the hot chicken entrée which is like a cross between Nashville hot chicken and a chicken cutlet. Just order a bunch of small plates and decide for yourself which things you like best and order more!!! We also love the "feel" and ambiance of the restaurant as it's a tad on the darker side and you dont feel crowded even if sitting next to another table. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and I've eaten everywhere lol...More
We’ve been to Izakaya several times before and all of the times prior to this dining experience were pleasant. However, this time not so much. We were seated at the lone table right in the middle of the bar area of the restaurant. Which was...fine, even though we figured we’d be in the middle of everyone walking around us. I thought at least we’d be noticed and the service would be great. Sadly, I couldn’t have been more wrong. We waited ten minutes for someone to come help us. People sat down after us at tables around us and were receiving water and service before us. I finally flagged down a waiter and asked if we could have a server. That waiter went to the host and then a new waiter came over. I’m not sure who dropped the ball with getting us a server, but I figured it was just a miscommunication among the staff. We placed our order and our food came out and was fine. I asked for water and after 15 minutes, someone came and refilled my glass. We ordered sushi, but we did not receive anything to put the soy sauce in. Our server was missing in action for all of this time, he was too busy attending to a much larger party, even walked past us several times. My fiancé wanted to order a drink from the bar, but the waiter took way too long. Then, our server thought we were full, but that wasn’t the case, I was just waiting for someone to bring me more water. Once we finished our meal, we waited over ten more minutes for a check. Finally, I asked the hostess if she could get our server. We’ve never felt more unattended to before in any restaurant. The sad part is we wanted to order drinks and more food, but the lack of service made us say, “forget it.” Our bill was $83, it wasn’t like we sat there and didn’t order much. Had we had better service, we probably would’ve spent closer to $120 or so, but the poor service led to the restaurant not making more money. I’m sure we’ll chalk this up as a fluke, but if it continues next time, we’ll be taking Izakaya off our dining list.More
We ordered a variety of dishes and most were decent. The sea bass entree was not that good and also was overly salty. The service was poor at best. Our waiter Jim seemed to care less if we enjoyed our dinner or not. The food...arrived at all different times because of the different kitchen areas which we were told about when we ordered. But the sea bass took so long I had to flag down a waiter to check on it. Our waiter Jim was nearby but he we couldn’t get his attention as he was heavily involved in a discussion with two customers he seemed to like. Jim never checked to see if were happy with any of the food that we were served.More
Had a solo dinner while staying at Borgata. Meal did not disappoint. Standouts were the edamame dumplings, duck scrapple buns, and various robatayaki skewers. The bakuto cocktail was fun. Great atmosphere.
Came here for my birthday dinner with my husband. the food was amazing. Soup dumplings are a must have. we love themahi mahi tacos, wagyu fried rice and the skewer meats like korean bbq and lamb chop. I had the ming mule drink was so...good. vodka, lychee, mint and ginger beer. desserts were also delish! service was excellent.More
When you arrive, with a reservation, they nonetheless make you wait and they gather everyone together. When a group forms, then they lead everyone together and place you all at your tables at the same time. This is a very strange welcome. We’ve been there...twice and this is how they operate. At any rate, once you’re finally seated, it’s a wonderful dinner. The front room is very vibrant. The back room is more quiet. Food is excellent. The sake is excellent. Service is good. No problems here. Just don’t be put off by the unwelcome first impression.More
We went here with a group of 15. The food was good (not the best) but decent. However, service was super slow. We were all starving while waiting to get the food. Also they added a $75 service charge (not tip) for no reason. As...if they wanted to penalize our group for choosing their restaurant. Very strange practice.More
