My friend and I visited after reading recommendations on Trip advisor . We arrived without a reservation at 6pm and waited approx 10 mins for a table . The building is beautiful. We were served tea whilst we chose from the menu . We ordered...dumplings to share followed by the hotpot. Everything was delicious and cooked to a very high standard . The food was also very reasonable priced we felt.More

Me and wife arrived at 17:30 and they gave us a table. Place was already 40% full. Few minutes later most tables were gone. Dumplings are just amazing. Very thin pasta and tasty fillings. A mixed tray of meat costs 98 rmb. Waiters are polite...which is not so common in China. Total bill 254 rmb. Dishes ordered could have served 3 people.More

We ate here last night & are seriously thinking of going again tonight! Lovely ambience in the 500yr old building. Staff spoke enough English for us to understand and were lovely. If not their menus are in English. The food was so good. We ordered...dumplings, sweet & sour spare ribs & the pork hock to share which was well enough for us. Price was also great for value for money. Although, we did not order drinks as we like the tea that they served. From memory was just over $50. I highly recommend. Only downfall you have to go early as quite a small place. Opened at 530pm and was already a queue but we got straight inMore

Fenglin Ge aka Phoening is a China time honored brand, graced by the visit of one of China's emperors. We had their specialty dish Shaomai (eight flavours including rabbit, crab, pork, chicken, lamb, beef, vegetable, sanxian for RMB 88, pretty pricey by Datong food standards)...- it came with nice flowery tops made of dough, but we could almost barely taste the difference in the fillings. Probably worth it as a to-do in Datong and for instaworthiness (interior decor and food) , but not for flavour and value.More

If you wait your turn to get a table, you will find a nice atmosphere and a large acquarium full of coloured fishes. Dumplings filled with fish, pork or chicken are amazing.

A very lavish restaurant compared to many we have visited in China. Yet the prices were reasonable. We ate several steamers of dumplings and had a cold beer each We were happy with the service and the overall cost. Treat yourself to somewhere a little...different.More

Be warned, the name posted is not Fenglin Ge. Name looks like “Phoenix “ but is not. Got here at 630 , was given a ticket saying time 7:30. I got back early and was seated about 7:15. It is an impressive decor. Some very...elaborate features. Menu is in English with photos, which is good because the staff does not speak English. Service was efficient. Food was good, enjoyed some dishes more than others. They have a huge menu, so many options. Very reasonably priced. I had 6 dishes and alcohol for only $25. Almost all Chinese , so I assume they think it’s good. I don’t think you can go wrong.More

Price a bit expensive. Food taste acceptable & portion generous . Like the siew mai, look like flower. Quite busy, went there on a Tuesday, 5.20pm. Got a queue ticket, 10mins later got seated.
