It's a small, lovely place with really good food. It wasn't busy at all when we were there, a perfect place to get some work done. We had the eggs with salmon and French toast - both definitely recommendable! It was, however, a bit cold as the heating wasn't on and the it hadn't yet become warm outside. The toilet... More

This is a very cozy new zealand themed cafe tucked away in Hong Kong Gardens, near the coffee street area, and a nice walk (15 mins or so) from Crowne Plaza. Its a little bit hard to locate but once you find it, you'll return. The inside is decorated with lots of NZ photos, knick knacks and photos. The restaurant... More

We lived in Qingdao, China in 2013 for six months. I know this review is a little late, but I'm just getting around to writing reviews. This place was such a welcome taste of home even if the cook is a Chinese man who lived for many years in New Zealand. He makes the food within view in a smallish... More

We were looking for a nice western breakfast during our trip in Qingdao. By chance we found this awesome place. Owner of the place - Danny is a nice guy (speaks English), he let us in even before the opening hours. An excellent home style food and great value for money! Big Kiwi breakfast is ¥60; Pancakes - ¥40; French... More

Although a little far away from our hostel, we went to this cafe for an amazing breakfast! The place is cute and small with friendly staff! They were able to accommodate our large group and the food was great!

In Tao for 2 days. To avoid lousy hotel bufet, did my research on good breakfast place. KIWI cafe ticked all the boxes, except that it's closed for breakfast. So if you like to eat your breakfast before 11am - dont bother.

Had to check this out after seeing it on TA and reading the rave reviews. Coffee is beautiful (just like I'd find anywhere in NZ) and sensibly priced. And the smoked salmon poached eggs benedict were gorgeous and just what I needed. Qingdao was the last place I'd expect to find this and especially done so well! Danny's little cafe,... More

With one cook and server. We had eggs benedict and burger, both were delicious. The burger was huge. The place is pretty small and cozy.

We were here for breakfast on our last day in Qingdao and were surprised at the quality and authenticity of the western food served at this small cafe in a suburban neighborhood. The chef-owner is Chinese, has lived in NZ for years and is back in town only for his elderly parents. Fans of flat whites and long blacks will... More

Only been a few times, but each time I've been quite happy. It's not quite an american greasy spoon, but they know how to fry an egg and at least the bacon is crispy. Reasonably priced, and the 5 stars is based not on absolute quality, but relative to other places in the city. It is the only place I've... More
