Was looking forward for harees ... came to the place for it, was on the menu, but ... only served during the weekend. Sadly, you are not informed until you place your order. Pity. Avoid, or at least call before and check the menu.

I never really paid much attention to this place but upon entering the premises I was astonished as to the time travel quality this Emirati restaurant has. There is a cafe on the front end, but a souk entrance and walkway takes you on a wonderful journey into an Arabian courtyard. The staff are dressed to reflect the local customs... More

This is my new favorite restaurant in Dubai. If you want to taste a true local food, then this place is for you. The food quality, ambient, service all are descent. Just be patient if you're asked to wait during peek hours. If you've the choice where to be seated, then go for the waterfront view.

The experience in Abu Dhabi has made me expected the replication of the same experience and therefore my expectations were really high. It turned out to be an anticlimax. Embellished with antique work imitation, they have a huge space to display the glimpses of their bygone era. It was nicely decorated and people, especially tourist, may find it very attractive... The new venue for this Emirati restaurant has been fabulously decorated to feel authentic. The food is so delicious, fresh and very with very subtle flavours. Everything was cooked to perfection. Attentive staff, fun statues and old photographs. Views from the conservatory over the Creek towards the Burj Khalifa - although unfortunately this area has a more modern decor. Small... More

Description
With an ambience of Dubai in the 1960’s and with the taste of Authentic Emirati Cuisine, AL FANAR RESTAURANT and CAFE will revive the memories of Dubai when it was a small town on the shore of the Arabian Gulf.
From the moment you enter the restaurant, a bewildering scene greets you to see the very relaxed mood of the time-fragments of local scenes: A Bedouin tendering his flock of camel and goats; a donkey loaded with kerosene to feed the lamps of the town, an old Land Rover just parked ready to unload the goods from a long haul; the landscape dotted with tents and barasti huts where the locals spend lazy summer nights outdoors.
