We had a great evening at this charming French restaurant in a quiet side street in beautiful LP. Excellent food and great service. Best to book, and make sure you sit on the terrace under the cooling breeze of the ceiling fans. Pricey for LP, but very reasonable compared to western prices and well worth it. Excellent wine list and... More

We were taken here for lunch as part of our package and were delighted with the result. Menu includes both local cuisine and a 'French Style' menu. We went for the French and were not disappointed. Not sure about food prices as it was part of our package but drinks were not overly expensive and there was a comprehensive wine... More

This is a nice colonial building with a good french menu. They have many imported items on the menu. We tried the venison terrine and it was good. The carrot salad came with delicately cut oranges and tasted good. However, this place is surely over priced. The beer Lao which costs Kip 15000 in other restaurants is kip 30000 here... More

Ok, so the waiters aren't but the food certainly is. We celebrated our anniversary at Elephant after a 2 day excursion visiting an elephant sanctuary in the area - very cool experience by the way (look up ECC). My wife enjoyed a tomato salad followed by perch fish in a light seasoned sauce. I went with the buffalo stew with... More

* Like - it is open a bit later than the other restaurants * Service - courteous * Price - Pricey but food served is just a little more than average (my personal opinion) * Ambiance - crowded and not so cozy

Surprised to find a restaurant of this quality in Laos. Was very busy on the night we went but the service was not affected. The choice of food ( French or Laos ) was very varied, we chose French and had a delicious meal. Drinks reasonably priced for the standard of dining. Recommended for a treat.

Although Laos is well known of French food, to be frank, I didn't expect much when I was walking into this restaurant. And I had not done many homework on food at all, I have no idea that it was recommended as the "best" one, until I'm reading some former reviews now...Therefore I guess I can say it is really impressive... Vegan alternatives are almost impossible in most good restaurants, but L'Elephant is just fantastic in this regard. Go there for the veggie spread and the great wine selection.
