This was such an amazing visit: there were kind servers and AMAZING food. This is the best risotto I have had in a long time. The bread and drinks were a bit overpriced, but honestly it was still worth it. I recommend this restaurant to...anyone visiting Dubrovnik.More
Worse than terrible- rip off! Avoid this restaurant!! The food quality was below average and everything was plus plus, eg. white stale bread (not ordered) which was just put on the table was charges €9 ?!
Andrew Lloyd Webber says it much better than I can. The two shysters running this “restaurant” would give old Thenardier and his wife a run for their money. It was funny in the theatre, but a bit too real in Dubrovnik. Welcome, Monsieur, sit yourself...down And meet the best innkeeper in town As for the rest, all of 'em crooks: Rooking their guests and cooking the books Seldom do you see Honest men like me A gent of good intent Who's content to be Master of the house, doling out the charm Ready with a handshake and an open palm Tells a saucy tale, makes a little stir Customers appreciate a bon-viveur Glad to do a friend a favor Doesn't cost me to be nice But nothing gets you nothing Everything has got a little price! Master of the house, keeper of the zoo Ready to relieve 'em of a sou or two Watering the wine, making up the weight Pickin' up their knick-knacks when they can't see straight… Food beyond compare. Food beyond belief Mix it in a mincer and pretend it's beef Kidney of a horse, liver of a cat Filling up the sausages with this and that… Reasonable charges Plus some little extras on the side! Charge 'em for the lice, extra for the mice Two percent for looking in the mirror twice (Hand it over!) Here a little slice, there a little cut Three percent for sleeping with the window shut When it comes to fixing prices There are a lot of tricks I knows How it all increases, all them bits and pieces It's amazing how it grows! Beware of false, friendly faces handing out fliers to a restaurant whose name is extremely hard to find. I will attach their photos.More
16 euros for a glass of white wine? They say only cash, but if you say you don't hv, then they give you card machine. 화이트 와인 한잔에 2만원 받아요 가지 마세요. 식전빵 줘놓고 인당 3유로도 받음. 카드 안 된다고 뻥침
These people WILL take advantage and rob you blind. It was our first day in Old Town after a long travel day so we were tired and hungry. We just wanted to hurry up, find some food and get to our place. Unfortunately, in our...sorry state, we let ourselves be pressured by a pushy employee, who was advertising for the restaurant on the street, into dining here. Colossal mistake. The food was not only subpar but they up charge you and hit you with hidden fees and charges when you go to pay. I got a Caesar Salad that ended up costing 16 Euro (on the menu it said it was 12), which is crazy enough but what they bring you is the smallest plate of paltry lettuce sprinkled with tiny pieces of petrified toast and some unidentifiable dressing that was not Caesar and tasted both bland and rotten slightly rotten. They bring you bread without asking for it and then they charge you for it without telling you. The other two dishes we ordered were a gnocchi dish which was extremely mediocre but probably the best of the bunch(again this is not saying much but it was edible, and a pasta dish with beef. There was no beef, I could not tell you exactly what it was so I will henceforth call it the mystery meat. The mystery meat was thin and chewy and draped in a thick brown sauce that had zero flavor. Super disappointing. We also got the tomato soup, which was just marinara sauce in a bowl. They charged 6 euro for a small coke. We ordered 4 beers that were priced high enough already but they decided to charged us for 5 anyways. The lady who served us did a decent enough job though. Went we went to pay the lady in front of us who had just received her bill was arguing with the owner about how high her bill was and refused to pay the extra charges so I knew right away what I was about to be in for. And sure enough everything was more expensive then it had been listed as on the menu. Please, please, please do no patron this place while visiting Old Town Dubrovnik. Be smart and do your due diligence, take the time to look for reviews because once we did we found some great places that made up for this utter disappointment, such as Bota Sushi and Gradska Kavana Arsenal Restaurant. Mlinar Bakery was great too.More
Daily menu for 14 Euro per person is for a city like Dubrovnik ok. But 8 Euro for a 250 ml bottle of Cocke is outrageous! There is no price list for the beverages!
Total scam. 10 euros for a bottle of water, 6 euros for a coffee. Whatever NOT on the menu has ridiculous pricing. Reported to Police. Avoid this place.
I don’t know how this restaurant got so many good reviews, but I would strongly recommend you look for something else. The food is definitely overpriced, it doesn't taste particularly good, the service is mediocre at best, and they charge you for things I've never...been charged for before. There are much better alternatives in town for this kind of price. This is typically what I would call a tourist trap.More
Don’t even want to give it a 1 Staff who meet you outside the Bristo suddenly becoming aloof from when asked about the hidden charges.. ( 10 euro for a bottle of water and complimentary charges for bread and that too per person)
Was there with my friends , we had 3 pastas and one cheese burger and one bottle of water , the pastas had no test at all the burger was horrible , the price was out of the record we payed 10 euros for one...bottle of water ,probably the water came from Fiji… At least the employees was nice. I do not recommend it at all.More
I only write reviews when I feel VERY positive about a place or VERY negative. Sadly, this place falls into the latter category. We had lunch here in December 2022. Our first encounter with the owner was a cheerful conversation outside the bistro about his...daily menu. It sounded like a pretty good deal, so we went inside. When our meal arrived, it came with a basket containing six slices of bread. We hadn't ordered the bread and it wasn't part of the meal deal. So we presumed it was complimentary and ate it. At the end of our meal, we paid the bill. But on closer insoection of the receipt, I noticed an extra 40 kuna for something we didn't order. I called the owner over and asked for clarification. “It’s a cover charge,” he said. I was confused. It wasn’t a public holiday or any other special day. “You have a cover charge?” I asked. “Yes,” he said, his demeanour now much less friendly. “Is that shown on the menu anywhere?” “Yes,” he said and grabbed a menu. He flipped to the back page, where in small print it stated: “Bread: 20 kuna per person.” (We hadn’t seen this because the set menu was on a separate, stand-alone print-out.) “But that’s not a cover charge, and we didn’t order the bread,” I said. “It doesn’t matter; it is always added to the bill,” he said gruffly. Then he turned his back on me and walked away. We left, still feeling confused. But this soon gave way to anger. While I realise 40 kuna is not a lot of money, it’s not about the amount. It is about behaviour that to me seemed deceitful and scammy. It left me not wanting to go back to Dubrovnik, which is a shame, because it is such a beautiful place. Anyway, I wanted to write a review to give others a heads-up.More
This is one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. The food price in the menu seemed OK but the food we ordered was dire. We had a traditional stew which was just a piece of white fish in a bland, unflavoured white sauce...with some bits of boiled potatoes in it. My risotto had some tinned seafood in tasteless tomato rice. This came to £20 but two glasses of wine and two coffees (we weren't shown drinks prices) came to £35+ extra. When we queried the bill they weren't very pleasant and said their card machine wasn't working so we ended up paying cash. They knew we would have cancelled the card payment. I find it hard to believe the positive reviews on this site. Beware.More
The worst scammers! Pulled us in off the street so didnt get a chance to check the horrendous reviews they have. We were told our breakfast was 13.50 each , like thats great then at payment she told me in kuna and not in euros...and it turned out to be 45 euro. Do not go to this awful place!More
Absolute rip off. Would not recommend. They charged us £30 for a beer, wine and a water. The food prices on the bill were different to the menu, but when we questioned it they just said Old Town is expensive. Food wasn't even that nice...and was the most expensive place we ate at during our whole stay.More
