Visited last night after a recommendation from a friend... and what a recommendation it was! We had the Peka lamb and pork (make sure you pre-order 3 hours ahead for this) and it was delicious! Meat fell off the bone and the potatoes that come with it were so tasty. The staff were really friendly, the atmosphere was lovely and it was great value.
Staying in the Old Town we got a taxi up to the restaurant but would recommend ordering an Uber taxi as it was 3x cheaper (only 50 kuna) than a taxi from the rank at Pile Gate.
Can’t recommend this restaurant enough - we have booked again for a couple of days time!

We took an Uber (roughly £4) from the old town up into the mountain to eat at Konoba Dubrava. We had made a reservation and ordered slow cooked lamb in advance. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was incredible. The lamb and potatoes are cooked together under an iron bell and the flavour was outstanding. Our waiter showed us to the kitchen area and we spoke to the head chef who explained the cooking process. If you want to escape the touristy restaurants in the old town and want some authentic food, head to Konoba Dubrava - you won’t be disappointed! Thank you, Tom & Rachael

High atop the hills outside of Dubrovnik sits this charming restaurant with all its Balkan charm. The online booking recommends a 3 hour notice requirement for the specialities and it is well worth the extra piece of admin. This place simply oozes character as do its staff. A veal, lamb combo platter with potatoes, local red wine and a ridiculously sized strudel to finish broke the bank at just over €100 for 4. Throw in the local wedding in the adjacent room with its foot stamping Balkan top 40 and the free entertainment added to the merriment. The precarious taxi ride meandering up into the gods with hair pin bends and on coming traffic may have you gripping your seat but is well worth the ride once you arrive.

If you want to taste some real food off the tourist menu by all means don't miss a visit to konoba Dubrava in the village Bosanka. Only a short drive away from the Dubrovnik city center you will enjoy great traditional food accompanied by excellent and friendly service. Parking and a kids playground secured. Reservations needed if visiting in high season and weekends. Covid 19 preventive measures are executed.

We've been told by our host and also by some people from Dubrovnik that it's the best restaurant, and we were advised to take a national Croatian meal called PEKA (155 HRK with lamb or 175 HRK with octopus). It must have been preordered 3 hours in advance, but it worths that. A very friendly and good waiter offered us some opening drinks (homemade cherry or grape or hazelnut liquer). We passed really good time there.
A note for families: there's a playground at Dubrava.

Excellent food, price, and more importantly customer service. They were the friendliest people of our entire stay in Croatia and one of the waiters let us use their phone as a hotspot to call for an Uber, and he left it on our table for as long as we needed! The food was the best we’ve had so far and was very reasonably priced unlike the more touristy area of the Old Town. The best way to get here is to take the cable car (it pays for itself with the views you get especially at sunset) and then walk/Uber beyond their sign on the road. If you’re around the Old Town you must visit here.

Our tourguide suggested this restaurant when we asked him for traditional restaurants. It’s around ten minutes from the old town and totally worth it! We had their famous octopus grilled in cast iron bell. This is one of those experiences that you get to eat above expectations on your holiday! I would recommend this restaurant and especially this dish. Dont forget - if they dont suggest it themselves - to ask them to show you how they cook it the octopus.
PS you have to call three hours in advance to allow them to prepare the octopus since it takes a lot of time.

Such a great surprise!!
We have preordered octopus peka and it was prepared on time, taste is amazing, great quality.
We took for desert homemade choco banana cake, was great choice.
Servise is above our expectation, well organized, kind, polite, professional, we were speachless. As a welcome, we were offered by homemade grapa, such a nice gesture.
Don’t miss this place 😊

We had made reservations for two people on the recomendation of a local.
The drive up to the location is a little adventurous due to the narrow and steep road but it is definitivley worth it.
The location is really nice with an open terrace and tables made of old wine barrels - we did not go inside so I can't say anything about that. There is free parking, free WiFi and also a playground.
As a little welcome we got to choose between three loccal liquors (walnut, cherry and grappa).
The menu consitsts mainly of meat and fish and there is a wide selection of wine and other alcoholic beverages.
The waiters and waitresses were very nice and obliging.
We had the grill plate for two which easily would have fed three people. The meat was fantastic as were the trimmings. And all that for a reasonable price (in my opinion). As a bonus you can catch a beautiful view of the sunset if you walk for about two minutes.
All in all we had a perfect dinner.

The best thing about visiting this restaurant for me was the stunning coastal views on the way there. We booked after seeing it rated highly on trip advisor but it was a let down in terms of both food and service, not worth the money at all. Much preferred other restaurants we visited don’t understand the hype.

Climbing down Mount Srd we stopped here for dinner. The mixed meat specialty and the beef skewers were a great treat to end our little trek. The meat is juicy and melts on your tongue like butter, the staff was really nice and professional: we felt like Kings. Thanks to all the team and the chef, we loved every bite of these 2 copious plates and would love to visit again!

We visited on August 10th at 17.00, I had preordered the octopus cooked under the "Iron bell" recommended by our Uber driver (you must order this dish at least 3 hours in advance as it takes that long to cook). We took another Uber to the restaurant and the drive was up a narrow road on a mountain and provided good views across Dubrovnik. The staff were friendly from when we arrived and we sat in the cosy outside area. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive and I wish I had gotten his name so I could mention him personally in my review. He offered us photos in the kitchen area with the Iron Bell and I was more than happy to be shown around as I'm a chef and love to see how people cook in other countries! The food was delicious and worth the wait, a little shy on seasoning, but I've found that to be a common problem across Croatia. My girlfriend is vegetarian and there wasn't a lot of options on the menu for her (which is something they could work on, but Croatian food seems very based on grilled meat and seafood) but she was very happy with what she got. Overall a really nice experience with great service, and in a place frequented by both locals and tourists. Would recommend, and many thanks to our friendly waiter who left us satisfied with having a local and cosy experience in a great setting. Thank you

Thank you so much for enjoying with us in Konoba Dubrava! You waiter was Mili(eng. Honey-darling)! His name shows his character☺️! Well, about the seasoning I agree with you, but…. Since we are very traditional restaurant, the main ingredinat from the seasoning are the famous potatoes that we make. Manny years ago, people were growing vegetables in the field to sell it to the market(to feed the family) and they were eating “the poor ingredient- the potatoe! Makes sence, right!?

Part of our order came not cooked through and had to be sent back, the dishes were dirty, another part of our order didn`t arrive at all but was put on the bill. The first beers we got were warm. Most of the food tastes stale, the sea food was frozen and thawed too fast. Everything felt a bit life- and soulless, dirty and not really cared for. The playground for children was not taken care off, therefore dangerous. Very bad experience. A pity, because the location and the restaurant could be awesome, if maintained better.

The food, service, and character of the restaurant is perfect. Cabbage salad, beef skewers, potatoes, and bread are perfectly prepared. Come hungry — leave happy. And the travel to the restaurant is beautiful!

Who wants to eat great, have a good time and enjoy the beautiful nature, then we definitely recommend this place. The food is delicious, we ate a meat platter for two and it was more than enough. Waiter Ivan is very communicative, approachable and polite. He hosted us nicely and introduced us a little more about the services that Konoba Dubrava offers. For every bit of praise!😍😍😍😍
