This is the second restaurant we went to on the recommendation of our local host in our apartment in Split and it was a belter. Yes, the menu is limited but thoughtful which affected me because of my onion allergy. It restricted my choice so I ended up having a steak - my god it was the best one I have ever had in a restaurant. My wife had the fish soup main which was equally nice.
The service was on the slow side but it was very busy and the house wine was very quaffable at £12 a litre.
A fantastic end to a great holiday.

Good food but the service was lacking. We had the tuna steak and the seafood risotto. Both were very tasty. Some negatives were that the service was very slow to get the bill, the glasses of wine were extremely small (get a bottle if you drink a bit) and they even charged extra for both butter and olive oil to go with the bread (very stingy)!

If you only have one chance to get a meal in Old Town Plit, this is the place. We were blown away by the quality and flavor of the Croatian dishes we had. The service was phenomenal, special thanks to the "Mystery Waiter" for all of the perfect picks. His name was withheld because he didn't want any attention brought to him because "they work as a family". That should say enough for you to eat here!

Went for a dinner with couple of friends. Appetizers were delicious but the portions were really small. The mains were about 15€ and basically what you get is a plate full of rice / gnocchi and literally few pieces of meat or fish fruit. Rather disappointing for me but maybe others have lower expectations. Plus the waiter was annoying coming every 2min and said we better finish the appetizer when he comes back.

Although this hyped-up restaurant is in a perfect, secluded location in the middle of Split old town, and the menus are worth a laugh, it stops there. Really. That’s it. We shared the cheese/meat platter for starter, and while ok, it didn’t leave us wanting more. For main I had the carpaccio and swordfish ceviche (both starters), and though the plate looked appetising, the food was not. The carpaccio was cooked(!!!) and dry as bone, and the fish was in thick chewy slices. I mentioned it to the server, adding that carpaccio actually is supposed to be served raw, but all I got was a shrug of the shoulders. I also ordered wine, the first glass had something floating in it, so I asked for a new one, and a new came back 15 minutes later, lukewarm, also with something floating in it. I’m not a picky eater, nor drinker, but I have never been more disappointed or felt more ripped off than after a visit here. STAY CLEAR.

A nice looking place close to the fish market. I was there with my child and is not a kids friendly place. I was annoyed that even if inside they had several places for 2 persons and a child, they told us all the time that nothing is available. We ended having the drinks and the food at a table outside. The food was average, the sea food was fresh but somehow tasteless, the pasta was ok, but nothing special.

Lovey evening spent at Corto Maltese. Food and staff so lovely. The dinner was so tasty, lovey and fresh and served in a timely fashion. We hadn’t made a reservation but were just lucky as there were people queuing after we were seated. The house wine is delicious and very good value. We had a sharing starter served with warm fresh bread and risotto and gnocchi for main. Too full for dessert! But I totally recommend the risotto, it was delicious and stole some of my fiancées 😂 definitely worth a visit in Split

First time in Split and some one recommended trying the restaurants on Oblov Street. We chose the Corto Maltese and were not dissapointed, the staff were so friendly particularly the water Nikola who took the time to not only explain the history behind the comic themed restaurant and menu but also what each of the drinks and dishes on the very original menu were. The food was really the highlight though as it was incredible with my favourite dish being the beetroot and cream desert. Add too all this, the movie setting that is Splits Diocletian Palace area and the guy sat opposite playing amazing music on a guitar adding a perfect ambience to the perfect scene and it has surely gone down as one of my wife and I's most memorable dining experiences whilst on holiday with my wife.

We expected lots from this restaurant with the promise of freestyle food! Turns out it was the menu that’s a little quirky but for the rest it was a pretty standard affair. A glass of wine is served in a 100ml measure - this is a very small amount for a not so small amount of money. Whilst the prawn pasta was very tasty there wasn’t much freestyle in evidence in the meager portion. Disappointing.

This restaurant is an absolute must if you are staying in split. Initially drawn in by the quirky menu names, the great music and atmosphere; we were delighted with the high quality food. Good local ingredients cooked to perfection, would not be amiss in a Michelin guide. The waiters were so knowledgeable and mixed the most delicious cocktails. The food looks so fancy and high end but with relaxed atmosphere and very reasonable prices. Excellent value for money.

Stopped in on a recommendation which included that they offered selections from their sister vegan restaurant. Unfortunately that isn’t the case but I’d recommend they do it. The food was good but not great and unfortunately the waiter wasn’t the best when it came to service for the customer. Asked for bread told us no need for bread, thinking that meant it would be with the main course we were still left wanting. Overall a solid meal but certainly not the best we had during our time in Split.

The smoked risotto with mussels and prawns is so creamy and tasty. One of the most delicious risottos i have every tried!
Another meal was gnocchi filled with ricota and venison sauce. It was little bit better than average but i think it can be better.
The restaurant's prices are a little bit higer than average but the service and interior are really on the top level.
All in all, I recommend this restaurant if you want to try interesting and tasty dishes.

What a fun menu! Definitely a treat going through the minuscule comments and remarks.
We ordered the tuna tartar and ballad of the salted sea for our main course (clams, shrimp pasta). We paired our food with a local craft beer Staropramen (recommendation from the waiter) and an elderflower lemonade.
Tuna tartar was OK. It was edible. I have definitely had better tuna tartars, and this is for sure on a lower scale. The green/black sauce on top of the tuna was terrific. Perfectly sweet, sour, and savory. However, the tuna did not look fresh and was dripping in liquid. It was unsightly to say nonetheless.
The ballad by the salty sea (forgot the exact name) was decent. Fresh grape tomatoes and perfectly cooked linguine. The clams were tiny but delicious. The shrimp was TINY and tough. Tasted like freeze-dried shrimps that were rehydrated.
Overall the taste is very good. I would recommend.

The restaurant is located in the city center in a small alley with several other cozy restaurants. It is necessary to reserve a place. The staff is very polite, the menu is interesting and full of wacky names. Appetizers are top notch. We ate tuna tartare, one of the best I've eaten, fish pate with smoked vongola, it's called a pity not to try ... The main dishes didn't really delight us. Tuna steak is not a complete hit, Pasta with prawns and shellfish was oversalted, and hama fish baked with shellfish was interesting. Anyway a recommendation, worth a try. The atmosphere in the alley is really Mediterranean, casual ..

I must admit I was a bit dissapointed. They charge very high prices, and portions are really small. It is common that modern restaurants offer small prices and I understand that, but this was too small. If you are paying 200 kn for a single plate (there is almost no options under 200 kn) and 50 kn for a drink, you expect to go home happy and full, and this was not the case. Beside that, I order tuna and instead of it I got some "forgotten Adriatic fish" that nobody heard about as a substitute because the run out of tuna. As well, my bf ordered beef stake and he got a rump stake, for the same reason, for the exact same price which was not ok.
